wiring problem

I was installing my girlfriends JVC head unit in her car the other day. We got the door chime module and I hooked everything up how it is supposed to be. I know it was all right because I triple checked it all, then turned it on. After turning it on, it worked just fine, so I shut the car off and proceeded to mount the head unit in it's hole. After getting it all mounted up, I turned the car on again and the head unit did not work whatsoever. I took it back out and checked everything one more time. Everything seemed to be hooked up just fine. I checked the fuse on the head unit to see if it was blown. The fuse was fine. I checked the radio fuse on the side panel, and it was fine. My only guess would be that something grounded out, but it doesn't seem that way since all the fuses are fine. After all this, I decided to stick the stock stereo back in for now until I got it figured out. I put it back in and tried it and it didn't work either. If anyone has any suggestions as to how I might be able to fix this problem, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You shouldnt try to guess whats wrong...

Get a test light- check to see if the red and yellow wire are both showing voltage when the key is on...

Then, go from there.

lol, sorry. I was really tired when I made the first post. The car is a 2001 sunfire. I will be sure to test those 2 wires tomorrow and see what happens. If by some chance, one or both of the wires do not show voltage, what are the options from there?

maybe you twisted a wire around, and its wired backwards. close the door and it thinks its open open and it thinks it closed?

The yellow wire should show constant voltage & the red one will show voltage with the key on...

If they dont work, you'll have to figure out why- a blown fuse is probably the most likely thing.. I know you checked the radio fuse- but for some crazy reason, its not always the most obvious fuse thats blown...

Take your test light- turn the car on, and check each fuse- you can do this by probing one side of the fuse, and then the other... Make sure each side of the fuse lights up... This way, you don't have to pull each one out, and inspect it-- Theres always 2 little spots on the top of each fuse you can test...

If one side of the fuse lights up, and the other doesnt- that fuse is blown or broken.

If the red wire & the yellow wire both show voltage with the car on- and the ground wire is attached to a chassis ground properly- and your radio is still dead, then chances are, its smoked.
