Well seeing as I have ideas for a new intake I need to remove my battery and put it... somewhere else probably in my trunk
How would I go about doing this? I'd hate to have my battery that close to my gas tank. and are there any benefits besides room in the engine bay? Any kits available?

I went out and bought 30' of 4ga wire ($25)
2 Battery post connectors ($5)
1 Battery box ($14)
2 Distribution blocks ($25)
Basically find a good place to mount the box (with screws), tie the battery down in it, run the cables to the front, and connect them up to the existing cables, or cable mounting points. I ran my cables through the inside of the car under the carpet next to the drivers side, you couldn't see the wires if you were looking for them.
No real benefits, the room really helps with having the auto tranny and putting a turbo in though

Buy stuff from CarCustoms Ebay! Won't be disappointed!
If you do put it in the trunk, you will probably want to put a vent in for it to the outside of the car. Most likely you'll never actually need it, especially if you're using a sealed battery, but if you plan on racing you'll have to have a vent installed in case of gas leak.

If you are planning on racing... check your local track for their regulations... at my local track, a relocated battery has to have a shut-off switch installed on the rear of the vehicle... and that's more than just a switch, since the alternator has to be disconnected too (so it actually CUTS off the car... not just the battery). You have to run a second wire from the front to the back (for the charging circuit).
The Cobalt has the trunk mounted in the spare tire well... it's not unsafe

it's on the other side of the sheet metal from the gas tank... although it's not really gonna cause any problems... even if you mounted it right beside the gas tank!!!

You can use a soldering kit to join them, or you can simply use one of the battery terminals to clamp the second wire on or something of the likes. I'm too lazy to move my batteries anywhere, however I may have a second one (one smaller battery for the engine and everything else, and a larger battery for audio and custom-installs like neon)
so just join the 2 with a bolt or something then and thatll be fine? what about the ground wire, where does that go? im gonna ground the battery to the strut tower but i need to know where to put the wire thats in the engine compartment

to connect two batteries..just connect em. nothing hard about it. use a terminal like what's on it now on the second battery and just hook em together pos. to pos.
any grounds need to go to the chassis.
