sorry for the newb question but I need to know if the ld9's out of say a 96-99 will fit in my 01 any information on this will greatly be appreciated

They will all "fit", however you'll have to deal with the EGR in the 96-98 and the different sized knock sensor. 99 and up will be a direct fit.
