do the ecos in our cars tend to warm up pretty fast, or does it depend on the outside temperature because it seems like there are times i no sooner turn the key and the gauge is already halfway up to 195.
I think it's because the Ecotec is all aluminum, and aluminum warms up faster than iron. Aluminum cools faster too though.
ok does this kind of Aluminum the kind are engines are made of tend to warp,
the water pump housing and tubing also runs right under the header so that definitely helps

Im guessing your talking about the aluminum heads on a cast iron block "problem". Aluminum and cast iron have different expansion rates and that causes the problem. Since our blocks and heads are aluminum, they expand at the same rate. So i dont see a problem.
Yep the eco warms up way faster than my 2.2 OHV did. The OHV on sub freezing days would not get half way to 195...
Personally as long as my car goes no higher than 2 notches above 195, I don't care how fast it warms up. Once it starts getting higher than those 2 notches, I'm not going to feel comfortable anymore
