I have an 03 cavalier with 115,825 miles on it. The engine is going out. I was wondering what would be a good swap or replacement other then the 2.2 eco that doesn't envole alot of modding? I can get any 4cyl or 6cly for around 200$ also is the 2.4 out of the z24 a good motor? Yes I am a noob this is my first jbody.
you'd not only need the engine, but the trans, wiring harness, engine mounts, and a whole plethora of other items to swap FROM an eco, which im not sure why you'd want to anyway...

The reason why I'm asking is because I have 1 of 2 options rebuild the engine or do a swap. What all would I have to do for a 2.4 eco swap?
for a 2.4 swap, you'd need a whole new car. and park it where your j sits. then sell your j. there, you swapped to a 2.4 eco.

the 2.4 eco is a whole new animal and the electronics simply will not work with our older system.
