95 2.2 performance
Thursday, November 22, 2007 3:10 PM
hey guys we are running a 95 cvavalier 2.2 5 speed in a local race division on an oval track, just wondering if there are some quick ways to get hp that isnt to noticeable for the tech inspection so we cant run an intake or header, we do have an open exhaust, i am thinking a p&p shaved head injectors and pulley

take The harness off your coil, find the black wire and cut the black wire and run it directly to you battery. Also clean up all your grounding points with a dremel till there bare metel. This small mod is good for up to 5hp and 2-3 tq. Any questions wb.

Port/polish the exhaust manifold

1.6:1 Roller Rockers (unless theyll take the valve cover off and inspect)

no they dont pull the valve covers i thought about the rockers today. we are running race gas so i am definately going to cut the head big time. is there any good cheap tuning software so i could tune it on our dyno

I may be way out of my league here, but couldnt you get a PCM (and harness if nessecary) from a '97 2.2 and tune it with HPT?

I don't know if theres anything that tunes obd1 (or whatever '95 is im not sure).

NAWS !!! !!

jk.

P&P, Roller Rockers, Cam, and some stronger injectors, Pistons...
Higher compression?

Is this going to be a multi race? or is this a one or two time throw away car?

You could do a lot of internal work i guess, how about an 2.3 TB Bored out?

I don't know what you can get away with

if you go that route youll have to change some of your sensors to the 96 or newer ones.
if you do go this way i got a harness from a 97 2.2 3 speed auto ill sell

the guy building this one has never put money into a car and he is sick of losing, i run 2nd cavaliers in a higher class but i am helping him. so far we have some lowering springs kyb agx struts and addco front and rear sway bars. we cant do a cam they have a strict vacuum rule. so far i plan on sealed pwoer .030 pistons and new rings. new crank and bearings. sahved head .075 port and polish tb intake head and exhaust manifold, 1.6 roller rockers and underdrive pulley and some injectors

the car he has now is a 1997 2.2 5 speed i could just pull all the sensors from that one. what is and how much is the hpt tuning that guy talked about. i would be interested in that as i have a dyno sponsor me so we go tune for free

There was a very nice write up in import tunner a few months back. Takeing it is a 1995 his grounding points are probaly shot. Thus why running the wire from the icm to the battary would work nicely. So go kick yourself it the face.

Seems like you have some good ideas there! not that you will get a huge amount of power from it.....but, it will be much better than a base 2.2 OHV

the good thing about the class is no one can get huge power but any edge is good

Kick yourself in the face cause you obviously don't know how to describe $hit properly. We were merely attempting to decypher what you posted. Hence the "WTF?!?!?" comment.

And, I for one, would like to see this article.
