I know the 2003-2005 Z24s came with the Eco instead of the 2.4L Twin Cam. But the Eco was introduced in 2002. So, I was wondering if the 2002 Z24s come with the Eco or still the 2.4L Twin Cam or either/or? can somebody answer my question? thanks.....
Working on obtainting an M-Class license... ?? Hint: 2 wheels.
Canada was the only ones to get a 2003+ "Z24". Down here they are called "LS Sport". 2002 was the end of the LD9 and the start of the Eco. I believe ALL 2002 Eco's are LS Sports, and I don't believe any 2 or 4 door 2002 Z24 got the Eco.

Buy stuff from CarCustoms Ebay! Won't be disappointed!
up here, the 2.4 was in the cavs for the first while, then about half way through the year they had started putting in the 2.2 Eco's. anything else you would like to know?

Correct sir,
I have a 2002 z24 with an Eco...
lets brake it down for the guy.
in 2002 the cavalier had the 2.4 ld9 in the z24s .. half way through 2002 the cavalier z24 was renamed the cavalier ls sport. and also included the ecotec 2.2 liter which just happens to be the only motor for the cavalier from 2003-2005 across the line
BUT !! the canadians got to keep the cavalier z24. same as the US cavalier ls sport.
I'm still not sure why we kept the Z name, the differences between the base and the "Z" were very minimal.
Minimal? Suspension, colours, spoiler, ground effects, interior trim were all different. Even the rear shelf panel has more insulation on it, on a Z24 model vs. a base model. I'd say that's enough of a difference
Now, throw the Canadian Z-Type into the mix... you're talking minimal changes

OK I have a 2002 2.4 that was sold to the first owner in Lansing MI it was sold 11/13/2001 for 163383.50 I know this all foe a fact cus I have the dealer receipt and then ever one stated telling me that the 02 were LS and not Z24 with the eco not the 2.4 so I looked in to it and fond out in the begging of the 02 seals year Chevy made the Z24 Sedan and coupe but the quickly switched to the less expensive LS so the 02 Z24 are harder to find but are out here (in small numbers)
163,383???????
if someone ever paid that much for a cav they had to have been the worlds stupidest and gulible person, and for you to believe it you must be just as bad.
the 02 Z24 and 02 LS Sport are the same car. the Z badge was kept for the Canadian Models and was replaced with LS Sport with the US models. and the 02's were brought in mid june to early July if I'm not mistaken.
I'm not trying to bash you here. but I think you really need to get something checked out. .

to me, the Z name was the performance version of Chevrolet, with the 03+ cavaliers, there were no actual performance upgrades made to the engine, it does not perform and better than the base cavalier. there are lots of people who go cosmetic and performance with their vehicles, me being one, so I don't really see, from a car enthusiast point of view, the reason to get a Z24 when you can do an equal amount of work and have the same outcome, but spend about 1-2 thousand less by not getting the Z package.
i agree with mega prak on that one. save your self the few thousand and buy a set of aftermarket rims, because thats about all you got then...
now with the old ones (95-99) and 2nd, the Z badge actually ment something other than just higher insurance rates

Agreed, if you're modifying it... why bother paying for stuff you're going to change anyway? If I was buying another J to modify, it wouldn't be a Z24 model. I end up changing everything anyway.... including the motor.
I was looking into buying a new HHR... the only reason I'd go with the new SS model is the 2.0L turbo motor... I don't want to bother swapping engines ever again if I don't have to

it's essentially the reason I'm starting with a base model 4-door. cheap on insurance, and I'm changing almost everything. I'm considering saving up for when someone smashes either a HHR SS with the 2.0 Turbo, or the equivelent Solstice GXP or Sky Redline. that's when my fun will really start.
