I have an 01 z24.. i need a new cluster someone has one from an 04.. with tach looks the same as mine.. just verifying its the same??

1/2 hour R&R = 1/2 an hour to remove and replace everything. It DOES plug right in. Search ebay, any 00+ cluster will work for you regardless mileage, and they can be had there for under 50 bucks shipped.

Yes. Know where your engine redlines though, the tach movement IS accurate, but the redline marks may not be for your particular engine. I believe they start around 5500 (for the 2.2/2200), but the Ecotec and 2.4 of course redline a good bit higher then that.
Shouldn't the rev limiter kick in at the appropriate time for all the different engines though?

He said red line. The rev limiter is programmed in the engine computer, not the cluster. The face of the cluster may just go to a higher number, doesnt mean that the lower numbers are inaccurate.
