First I have a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire with a brand new Fuel Filter,Brand new Fuel sending unit/Fuel pump,Aftermarket Custom Turbo kit, Venom High Flow Fuel rail,Greddy E~Manage,NGK Iridium Plugs. (Also Automatic)
It won't start, was running fine cut off once during Friday then ran fine again afterwards thought nothing of it However we stayed up late as hell like 3am that night trying to get everything ready/Finished up New 6x9's, Buffing Etc., for Carlisle which I was already pre-registered for but It choose to not run on Saturday morning around 7:30am when we tried to leave then we called various people which included mechanics, friends anyone with some knowledge not like we don't have it ourselves but at this point we sure couldn't figure it out after I though it was the fuel pump relay and that didn't work either that is, Then we tried beating on the gas tank with a rubber mallot to try to get the pump to kick on which at that time it didn't seem to be doing either but that also did not work Now I've replaced Fuel sending unit/Fuel pump,Fuel filter hasn't worked yet hopefully it starts in the morning "but my hope isn't wasting away on that thought" It trys to start it cranks like all hell but won't turn over or completely start we even checked the spark plugs they appear white & dry no fuel residue I will have to check them tommorrow again but any experiances or ideas are welcome at thie point cuz I'm 2 steps away from getting bent & blowin the b!tch up! Thanx,in advance to anyone. I already asked ScruffDog but I may call him with a few more q's tommorrow.
Does the fuel pump kick on when you turn the key? Is the crank sensor plugged in?
Pull the FP relay, jump the 30 and 87 pins in the box with a short piece of wire( look at the relay to see the pin #'s)
then see if the pump runs. If you cant hear the fuel pressure in the fuel lines up front, its not working.
Dont jump pins 85 and 86 with the key on!!!!!!

Don't seem to be kicking on homeboy??????????
Alright Tonight I checked the current going through the Grey wire throughout my fuel system...............
Under my back seat I have current
The F/Pump relay Pins 3 & 5 are Working they also work when I jump them with a paper clip
I have current coming from the Fuse/Relay box uner the hood to before and after the pressure sensor on the throttle body although I seem to not have any current going through the wiring harness that connects & disconnects with the White connector pieces & wires wrapped in Black plastic going to the injectors & I don't seem to have any current going through the Grey wires on any of the injectors either...........
Any more guess's?
*NOTE:* IN OUR FUEL SYSTEMS THE GREY WIRE IS ALWAYS or SHOULD ALWAYS BE HOT!
I also seem to have been mistaken I'm not seeming to hear the fuel pump kick on & Again there's no fuel to the Fuel Filter,Fuel Rail or Sparkplugs.
WTF!?????
Its kind of hard to understand what your talking about. Now your saying "current", current is measured in amps, which is the amount of draw on the circuit. Measured in series with the load on the circuit ( cut a wire in half, attach one end of an amp meter to one end and the other to the other) Which this can be used to tell how much current your pump is drawing, If its 30a + the pump is junk. Easily tested through the fp relay circuit (30 and 87 pins)
Now assuming that your meaning voltage 12v or 5v instead, which is either measured with a test light or volt meter. You need to see if you can get 12v and ground to the pump. I believe the 12v line at the plug under the rear of the car is grey, ground is black. Easiest way to find the 12v line to the tank is to jumper the fp relay and check for the 12v line at under the car.
If your getting voltage 12v to the fuel pump and the pump doesnt run. smack the tank with a hammer in the center with the fp relay jumper in place. Dont hit it so hard that you dent the tank. What you are trying to do is jar the fuel pump a little, It may have a bad spot in the armiture that it just happen to stop on. If this is the case you need to change the pump.
If your get 12v and ground at the tank and you cant get the fp to run, you have to change it, regardless of what other problems that you found.
As far as why you dont have voltage at the fuel rail, that sounds like a diff problem.
I see you have some mods, but not sure of what exactly but Im pretty sure the stock fuel system (pump and injectors) share the same fuse.I would have to look at my diagrams to be sure though.
Double check your fuses before you go any further, use a test light, sometimes a visual inspection wont catch a bad fuse due to failure from vibration.

I was using a 12V Testlight.

Joe look I have a post in Maitenance about this too I would appreciate if u would take a look at thata one as well you may find it much more informative.
Sound's like you might have a broken wire somewhere too.
