possibly buying a 3rd gen

right now i drive a 95 beretta with a 2.2l/5speed. well the body is rusted badly so i was looking in to getting a 3rd gen and putting my motor in it. The motor is a gm crate with 53000 on it. are these motors interchangeable? what about the exhaust? ive also got a brand new 2.25 inch exhaust on the beretta.

If I were you I would get a 95- 98. The 99 goes to non egr valve. You might just be better off selling the beretta and get a 3rd gen that you dont have to do anything with..

i want to keep the motor as it has low miles and a warranty on it. im not looking for performance, more for gas milage and reliability as i drive 30 mins to work every day. to keep my 2,2 i would need to use the 95-97 years correct? after that they switched to the 2200 with SFI

My wife has a 98 its a 2200 SFI . I might be wrong but I thought they were all SFI. What I was thinking that youd have problems with would be the EGR valve. I was told that 98 was the last year for the egr valve. I dont know if the intake manifolds can be changed if you get a non egr cav, or not.
