16" Rim Big Brake kit
Tuesday, September 07, 2010 6:13 PM
I know I've seen bigger front brakes that fit 16" rims and use the stock bolt pattern before but I cant remember who makes it, I could have sworn that it was OEM, but I guess not. I've even seen references to OEM's front brake kit but I just dont see it one their site anymore. Sad I was going to buy that kit once I needed new front brakes especially at the $600 price tag that I remember seeing.

Leafy, I still have the design if you wanna purchase a set. They cleared my 16" volks not a problem at all.

The brakes you are thinking of is the RSM kit that cleared the Z rims. They are no longer sold though.

Mark, in the interest of being safe rather than sorry, could you get me some measuremnts off that kit, like from the center of the hub to the edge of the caliper and the like. I want to know without a doubt that they'll fit.

They are dynapro calipers, I believe they measure 2" from the rotor to the outside of the caliper. Rotor sits on hub about .25" so if you have 2" or a little less it will fit.

mark, you never told me if you finished these with the dynalite calipers

Dave, I didnt know if you were going this route or another. If we use dynalite calipers they will be much thinner.

Well a dynalite will for sure fit behind a lss wheel. They measure 1" or something really tiny. Thats what you guys want?

And from what I've seen dynalites are cheaper than dynapros, have a better and cheaper pad selection which are all bonuses.

Actually, it's about an inch and three quarters, if you're talking about the FDL. The NDL is actually wider, at 1.9".

What about the BDL?

1.9" as well, IIRC

hmm, so they should all fit, question is which one's better. I cant seem to decern much from willwoods website. Heck I cant even really get a breakdown of the difference between dynalites and dynapros.

How do you figure they'll all fit? That measurement is from the friction surface of the rotor to the front of the caliper. The spoke clearance on the LSS rims is not even close to 1.75" from the mounting face. The only way to get them to fit is to use large spacers, which means they really don't fit.

Re: 16

you are 100% correct. there is 1 7/16 between the rotor and the back of the wheel. So I need to find a caliper that is 1 3/8 off the rotor. I believe that might be impossible.
