rear disc question
Friday, March 19, 2010 12:58 PM
We are about to start on a completly new air ride setup with slam specialties bags all around. I have a 99 grand am parts car and i wanna use the spindles and all on the front, and i need the same bolt pattern on the back. the grand am i have has drum brakes in the rear. I know i could swap the whole rear independent suspension but i dont really want to. I dont need the car to handle good its not gonna be driven much once its done. I am wondering if the grand am hub will bolt to the j body rear axel. then i could convert it to disks and keep the stock type rear suspension in theroy. let me know what you guys think. wors case senaro i will jus do the irs swap and then convert to disks but... thanks guys!

The hubs are a different pattern. The J-body hubs have a trapazoid base, and the N-body has a rectangular. Personally, I'd recommend doing the swap, since you have the car. It's a very straight forward swap, and you could score yourself the disc conversion parts from just about any salvage yard.
