DIY rear solid mounts?

putting this out there for comments ....

i've replaced my rear mounts a few times now, getting tired of doing it.

as you know the center piece is held in place by a rubber material, i'm assuming this allows a the strut rod to flex a little bit as the suspension travels.

has anyone considered welding a plate on the top of the strut mount for the strut to go through ? maybe do the same on the bottom with a slightly larger hole to account for suspension travel as to give the rod some freedom.

the stock mounts just seem to rip apart this rubber bushing way too quickly. so i'm either going to modify the stock mount and dispose of the center section, or shell out the cash for a set of replacement solid mounts at some point.

I'm having constant rear strut mount problems aswell Jason. So you're not alone. Just wish someone would've mentioned that these cars suck with aftermarket struts.
