Ok... so 2 weeks ago I took my car in to a shop because my back was making a thumping sound if I used the brakes at anything over like 25% force. I thought it was a brushing or something suspension wise, they assured me that it was the rear brakes and I decided to just get them done there (mistake...). Now low and beyond it's back (was actually back the next day). Any suggestions on what it could be? I don't want to take it back to those jackasses. Rather just do everything myself now unless it deals with replacing a strut.

Thx for quick answer but you positive? I've heard so many answers (CV, wheel bearings, and strut mounts), that I don't want to go crazy with repairs with a car I may be getting rid of soon.
Question though: Does getting new strut mounts mean I have to get new struts as well? I'm going to jack up the car this weekend and have a good look to see if I see if the mount looks bad,

NOPE strut mounts do not require new struts.
QUIK NOTE!!!
I have heard that praying wd40 or something similar into the strut mount can eleviate some of the noises they make.
Wheel bearings usually make a growling noise rather then a thumping noise, so I would have also said strut mounts.
I don't think you'll be able to tell if the mount is bad by looking at it still on the car but while you there have a look at the strut its'self and check it's not leaking etc.

Are you sure it isn't Billy Batts?
Alright thanks guys. I looked and it doesn't look too hard to do myself. I just have to invest in a few tools here and there but looks like a fun little project.
Hopefully do it in a week or two. I know the guy who did my oil said may need new wheel bearings at some point, but they only looked at the front and this is coming from the back. I may get around to that at some point but still can't decide about if I want to keep or sell car. Good gas saver but starting to get into repair mode after 5 years, even with only 38K miles.
