i have a problem, i have lowered my car and the front drivers wheel cambers in alittle as expected, but the passengers front has slight positive camber, i have double and triple checked all my suspension to make sure they are alike and they are. will a front end alignment adjust the passengers wheel and make it identical camber wise to the drivers wheel? need help asap!!!
yes....
you NEED to align a car after any major suspension change. That will correct your camber problem
anytime. now go get an alignment.
well i had an alignment done yesterday, and they didnt adjust any camber! one wheel is still cambered and one is still straight up and down. and on top of that, when i turn, my front right spring pops, and it causes my car to pull to the left after i turn left and right when i turn right. any thoughts would help.
did they give you a print out??
what are you lowered on? (brands of springs/coils & struts)
sprint springs, d-specs. and the printout was not detailed.
the print out should tell you before and after readings as well sas the specs for the car. sounds to me like something is not installed right, or not tightened properly with your popping noise.
get me the numbers on the print out.
well they didnt give me anything like that, but i checked everything out, it seems to be poppin where the spring meets the mount like its catchin up, and everything is installed properly and tight.
that tells me your strut mount is bad/going bad.
thats not a problem with anything, but age. I dont know about it pulling after it pops though...thats a bit odd/concerning.
the shop needs to give you a print out, go back and say that you can visually see they did not adjust your camber, and ask for it to prove it, then have them re-do it.
the only excuse fot that is lazyness....
are your struts slotted or do you have cam bolts??
ok, and slotted, oh and my strut mounts are brand new, like maybe 2 months.
check to make sure the spring is properly seated in the mount, and on the perch in the strut. If your stuts are slotted, there is absolutely no reason the cant adjust camber.
Set the toe and let it go.....
Thats what the tech was saying as he ran to the bank with your money. Shops like that piss me off.
I went to my former work to get an alignment done as I knew that it would be done to my specs. -1.2 camber and toe set to factory specs. Where you wnet probably did a toe and go and called it good. Most shops will claim that they can not adjust camber on our cars. I have had my 02 as far as -1.9 so there is infact room for a lot of camber.
it seems that the bearing on my front strut mount keep sliding out of place. is that a sign of it being worn?

can anyone describe to me EXACTLY the order of how to put together the front strut mount? i hope its just installed wrong but i doubt it.
its not the mount though its your spring. its binding up somewhere because its not seated properly.
it is seated properly, i got a buddy to turn the wheel while i looked and felt the spring, the bearing the the picture keeps popping out of place causeing it to move roughly, so i put a new bearing in it and it did the same thing after a few hours, so i checked to make sure both fronts were put together the same, and they were and i dont have a problem out of the front left.
how do they adjust the camber on a J??

had a shop tell me one time they needed to install camber bolts to adjust the increase in camber from.. get this... my tire wear. and the price? a measly $300 for labour and $75 for the parts.needless to say, they didnt get to do my alignment.
to the o.p., sounds like the strut mount has been ruled out as the issue, it almost has to be the spring.

but it doesnt do it when i re seat the bearing in my mount, but when i put a new one in it only lasts a few hours, it must be the mount, but will a new one fix this or not?

The camber angle is adjusted by loosening up the strut to steering knuckle bolts (and hammered out since they are splined) and adjusting the angle the strut and steering knuckle are "pinched" together. Unless your struts are slotted, or you have cam bolts, you can only get a few tenths of a degree usually. But that is usually enough to get it back into spec.

Still sounds to me like that spring is not seated correctly, and is forcing the bearing out of place. You do realise that everytime you take that strut out to change the bearing you are changing your alignment geometry...don't you??
