Lately I have noticed when applying the brakes (lightly) I hear a loud squeaking noise coming from the REAR . The problem only sounds when the brakes are on lightly, and is actually kind of embarrassing when driving through town. I took it to 2 different dealerships to have my brakes looked at, and both have said my brakes are in good shape and do not need replaced. These are the original brakes....Any suggestions as to how i could fix this problem.
Thanks
I drive a corsica and I have the same problem and it is embarrassing espesialy when you slide sideways to a stop light in the rain cause of the brakes grabing so hard. All that I can gather is that it is a problem with the abs module I think it sucks to I know this post is 1 yr old but let me know if u figure out something
I have the same problem that 03WhiteLS-SportCoupe identified with his vehicle. I have new shoes, new drums and new mounting hardware - same prob. One opinion I got was that it might be a malfunctioning proportion valve. Anyone got anything to offer on this mystery??
MadJack wrote:This sounds like the same problem everyone seems to have with any of the aftermarket shoes. Cody, the Corsica/Beretta used the same drums, you may have the same problem. It seems to be the common solution that I've read has been to use the OEM/Delco shoes.
x2 on the Delco shoes
2.2 97 Cavalier......the "Crapalier"
Thx to Masin tenn and MadJack for the advice. I have tried backing up several times to adjust the brakes using the self adjuster and it seems better. However, as soon as the nicer weather returns in April {it is November after all and I do live in Ottawa, Canada
}, I will contact my GM parts guy and swap out these @#!%^&@#(*(# aftermarket shoes.
Again, my thanks to both of you!
