Question on stock Cavalier spring rates
Wednesday, August 09, 2006 9:40 PM
Just need to know if anyone knows an answer to this:

Are the spring rates different from a coupe to a convertible? I just slapped the stock springs off of my vert onto a buddie's coupe and I swear it sits at least 1" taller than it did stock.

ALL J-Bodies from 95 to 05 have the same suspension (except sway bars, rear brakes, and rear torsion axles).

Some springs have sagged more than others.

agreed with both, all the same, convertibles are heavier. springs are progressive, so they dont have a set spring rate... only linear springs have a set spring rate.

All I know is that the vert had 120k miles on it and I swear that it did not sit as high with the stock springs as my buddies coupe does now.

The Vert weights almost 10% more. I would sit lower than a coupe on the same springs.
