.90 Skidpad

How realistic is it for a J to pull a .90 skidpad?

I'm curious as to what modifications/suspension tuning would be required.

I figure that if you can turn faster than the other guy, you've got something.

Thanks

um pretty easy actaually. Dosent it pull like a .86 stock.
I would say probably just something basic like sway bars along with non crappy tires would give you the best bet.

Put in High Performance Summer tires from a reputable tire manufacturer.

He pulled that because those Nitto 450's are all-season performance... Equivalent in category to the RSA's found on the FE2 J.

get yourself a proper suspension setup and you can get more than .9

back then was when i wasnt really to serious into racing. trunk full of sub box, tool box (for those that remember when i carried the 200lb tool box in the truck...ALL THE TIME)...

i did it down at fed ex field a few times. they do autoX down there so they mapped out a circle for the test and did the calcs by hand...

i pulled higher on a g-tech, however the g-tech also measures jerking motions so not really sure how consistent i was in keeping it smooth.

what iamrascal stated though, i would guess anyone with a decent susp setup, good tires, could prob pull up to a .95 or more.....

just dont carry near 280lbs in the trunk and a car full of afterwork trash....

You all seem to forget that a skidpad test is a to see the ability of what a tire can hold with without breaking loose while going in circles and it is measured in lateral G-force. You can have the stiffest set up with all the components you can think of but with out the sticky tires aka Summer or Drag tires NOT all-season/winter tires, your G measurement will be low.

while true, suspension plays a huge deal as well....

stiffest setup will only go so far.... for example, the ebay coilovers on gr2;s, most any place used for testing will not be perfectly paved.... one small bump even with the stickiest tires will slow overall speed if the suspension isnt handling. most test areas will have more than one imperfection.

so just as important as it is for sticky tires, a suspension that can "soak" a bump and keep going, is truely important as well.

its def not uncommon to see people with crappy suspension and great tires pull lower than one with great suspension and mediocre tires..., especially once plus sizing with smaller sidewalls are introduced

Yeah as stated skidpad is a nice number to know, but it's almost entirely a measurement of the grip of the tires. You run on R dot slicks vs all seasons ahnd the result would be woah different. Would be good for comparing the same tires but with different suspension parts perhaps.
