Im wondering if anyone has any idea what aftermarket forged connecting rods are compatible with the stock pistons and crank.
Im thinking of keeping my pistons stock since they look fine and theyr forged anyway.
Things Im doing for sure:
*machine the head and block gasket surface and Im going to clean the cylinder walls too.
*new piston rings (stock oversized?)
*crank and connecting rod bearings (clevette 77)
*MLS headgasket (cometic)
*as soon as the motor is back in Im installing a snow performance water injection kit
I may leave the pistons and rods alone if they look fine. Ide really like to change the connecting rods tho in favour of high boos pressure tho.
any ideas?
I may even go as far as just getting a new/used block
do the 2.0 N/A sunbirds use the same block?
yes there are a ton of H-beam rods available and Toga Rods is one of the most affordable at $400, Pauter also has a set (a bit better ,not much) for $730.
here is a link to a company that imports parts for the Opel/Vauxhall 2.0 16v (the bottom end on the 8v and 16v are the same)

there are also
ARP rod bolts that are a MUST if you keep your OE rods.
i also recommend using the
ARP flywheel bolt kit and the
main stud kit
if you have not machined your crank yet and intend to let me know i have a set of .25mm (.010") over main bearings that i need to sell for $30 to your door.
also use this info when ordering you MLS gasket so you don't get charged too much. these are prices straight from Cometic
you can call cometic direct to order @ 1.800.752.9850.

I do beleive that the sunbird pistons use a pressed pin, and the vauxhall/opels use a "floating" pin... i think you would have to have the pistons modified to accept a "floating" pin... thats what ive heard anyway... a way around this is to get vauxhall/opel pistons with the rods...
