well after getting the 2.2 in the 94 sunbird whil driving down the road the damn oil pan plug fell out and drained the engine of oil thought i was still safe when i turned the engine off right when the oil light came on but guess not the 2.2 is locked up.
So just wondering what all motors have the same bolt pattern for the tranny as the 2.2 and if theyll swap in just by swapping computers or if engines out of 93 berettas will bolt in the same i found one with an HO motor just dont know ifs its a 2.3 or what friend said they are 4.0 HOs i doubt that tho.
but if ied like to know if berettas have the same mounting brackets any info would be nice thanks guys later
the 2.3l is a huge undertaking to swap. it wont bolt to the 2.2l tranny, nor will any of the mounts bolt in.
basicly as to what bolts in is limited to the 2.2l and 2.8/3.1l. keep in mind that the isuzu tranny you have wont hold up long behind a v6.
Shoulda stuck with the 2.0........
what generation 3100 can i use can i use the 95 and newer one or will it have to be a pre 95? and its a manual so if i take it easy on it it should last behind a 3100 for a while give me time to have an actual 3100 manual on hand for when it does fail
thanks for the info sharky
and scotty hush lol j/k i know but i couldnt figoure out what was wrong so i dunno i just cant understand how the 2.2 locked up with only being out of oil for like 30 seconds but whatever i guess i screwed myself
and if anyone needs parts from a 2.0L or a good tranny for a 2.0L 5sp Manual just leave a post here and we can see if something can be arranged
BTW if u want the parts i live in SD zip is 57058 if u want to check shipping prices before u post here and maybe for the tranny i could meet someone half way somewhere
you can use any 3100 or 3400, however you will need to purchase or build your own front mount bracket as a j-body v6 bracket wont bolt up. you will also need a rear j body v6 mount bracket, v6 rad, beretta 3100 throttle cable, a 91-94 sunbird v6 wiring harness and ecm, aswell as some other little stuff.
woo sounds like fun.. hmm i can get a new style 3100 like in the 95 and newer monte carlos at a junk yard ran when taken out but then ill need to find ECM and wireing harness if that style will bolt to the 5sp i have and some of the other stuff im new to engine swaps only 20YO mostly done jobs like same engine out and in so i dont really know what all odds and ends ill need besides harness and ECU

watch for flying sparks!!!
woot after putting some oil down the spark plug holes and turning the motor with the flywheel since i broke 2 wratchets trying to spin the crank lol the car started turning over put the plugs back in and wala it started right up.
but i have a question if u fill the oil pan to full will it leak out? cause i put like 2 tubes of gasket maker oil/gas resistant and such like that on the new oil pan and i had the check oil light on so i thought ied add some more so i put 2 quarts or lil more in and out the driver side near transmission it started leaking out.
so what does the check oil light stand for?? i know the red light means low oil or no oil but the orangish yellow one what does that mean?
so far runs drives but no thermastat so it runs pretty cool the with the old therm in it over heated so must be stuck.
when the motor was stuck not even putting it in gear "its a 5sp" would make the motor turn over so i think i got pretty lucky and it still runs strong and hard
and if anyone wants a 3100 i can get one for them for a small price ran great in the beretta it was in ull just need wiring harness and computer and such all it is is an engine and auto tranny.. just leave me a PM oh and the trannys good just the beretta needed jaws of life so it was junked lol
beretta Odometer said it had 65000+ miles so its still a pretty young motor its the 95 and newer 3100
there's no yellow/orange light for oil... that to me sounds like a coolant light.. as for using formagasket on the oilpan.. well i'll say this it's leaking now i'tll be leaking later.... they make a replacement gasket for a reason i strongly suggest that you get it.
watch for flying sparks!!!
i figoured it out it was the check oil light for "oil level" after reading some posts i figoured it out i put regular oil in instead of mixture i had from at home cause the auto store wasnt open and the light is off and stays off
but thanks for trying boost i know ur trying to help may sound like i aint listenin but iam i mean comon look what ur working on right now who wouldnt take ur advice lol
thanks
