The car is a 91 Sunbird SSE with the 3.1 V6
It is running extremely rich--to the point fuel is smellable, and it wont hot start in warm weather due to flooding (it starts fine after sitting for about 45 minutes, and isnt a problem in colder weather). All the sensors are working OK, and it passed emmissions test--BARELY--last september (when I got it) but I'd like to get it running properly.
Any ideas?--a new cold-air intake is in the plans for this spring so that may help some.

are there any trouble codes??? we could start guessing here, but it could be almost anything causing it. id take and get it checked out.
btw: a 91 is a 2nd gen.
1st gen-82-87 (82-88 skyhawk and cimmeron)
2nd gen- phase 1- 88-90
phase 2- 91-94
3rd gen-95-05
Check your fuel pressure regulator. I've seen a few types of GM cars and trucks that have a hard or no start warm when the fuel pressure regulator is bad. Also check for fuel leakage and make sure your vacum line is hooked up to it. Check into it before you go replacing it though, this is just a suggested direction to go.
