Is the voltage regulator on an '87 Z on the alternator or in the computer?

If you are asking, it is probably due to the volt light illuminating. I replaced my alternator and it went away.
Yeah, its easier to just get a replacement alternator and swapping it, rather than tearing into the alternator to replace a bad voltage regulator.

i actualy priced it out a year ago. a rebuild kit for our alternators was 2/3rds the price of a new alternator. deffinitly not worh it.
I figured it was in the alternator, I have an extra alternator laying around so I'll just swap that in, it was charging really high was why I'm assuming its gone bad. I knew some cars have them in the computer just wanted to check before I started tearing into it
