Welcome to the NEW Jersey J's. This year is about a revolution to the J's. We are looking to make our cars improved, the club improved, and the people improved. To do that it will take everybody's help. My goal is to have three locations again like we used to. So we know the Hamilton and the Hillsborough. Now we need a third location and it doesn't have to begin with an H. Over the next two weeks I want to hear some suggestions and then I will make the final decision.
In addition I am looking for the following volunteers:
Videographers (we need more than one)
Photographers (again more than one would be good)
Graphics Artist (looking to make new logo design)
Web Designer (possibly not sure if we should have our own website or not, depends on if activity picks up)
The projected date for the meet is January 20th.

holy @!#$, im actually posting here. Well bryan,
I have a very nice camera, so if you want next meet I should my tripods and external flash. I know that Jay is pretty much the official videographer, so ill step up and be the official photographer. Im just starting out, but already my work is pretty damn good, we just need good locations for pictures. I think that if we are going to have more than one photographer and videographer we need to set a standard to the equipment. For example, If Jay is shooting with a decent camera and we have a bunch of good clips and the next guy is shooting with some @!#$t ass camera we're not going to want to use the @!#$ material from the crappy camera, same goes for photography. Im pretty much shooting a entry level DSLR, anything less honestly for night pics is going to take bad pictures IMHO no matter who is shooting the pics.
As far as other things needed, i think that video cutting/editing is a need. I know that PJ is doing a great job with his own videos and im sure that we can put together some videos like we planned over 3 years ago. I also have a great deal of video editing experience so I can aide PJ in the video cutting.
About location, hillsborough seems like a hike to some of us, i think that as a compromise we should replace it with somewhere in the linden/cranford/westfield area. I think that we should also include a meet place close to the shore, so seaside/toms river?
I understand your concerns. But it isn't like this is a "professional" organization. I personally could care less what the quality of the equipment is that we have. You can mix the good with the bad. It's all about the fun that matters. I mean I'm glad to hear that you have such good equipment and to be honest I expect to see more people with cameras for taking pictures than people with video cameras for shooting footage. I will try to see if I can handle both. You think Hillsborough was a hike, you should try our hamilton meets. But the thing is we are a car club we should enjoy driving. I would like to have a shore location to be honest however as I think the last group that went down there with us witnessed the scene down there has become so flooded that the cops are all over it. I think any shore scene will be like that though. I did like the Point Pleasent idea we should come up with a location there. Not the diner that we went to though, maybe something a little closer to our age group that isn't scared of cars. Of course the other catch is if we are going to be near the water we will want to cruise it and park so we can walk the board walk so which ever shore location we choose we will have to keep in mind that it needs good parking for everyone.
im liking the ideas so far and tina went to school for photography and would be more then happy to be a photographer for the meets

In Loving Memory of Phil Martin December 14 2005
the skwirl is going to have some cameras permanently mounted in it before long
I'm also looking at getting a digital SLR for myself for xmas, as well as two more (high quality) cam corders.. one for shotgun if I have anyone in there, and another for the external shots.. I need to pick up another sticky pod, and fix the one I have and the skwirl will always have 2 angles of coverage at least for cruise shots/racing action
other than that, the last meet was fun! good to see new faces and what not as well as some old ones (marc)
hopefully it'll stay relatively mild for this next meet and I'll actually be packing some camera power by then
there ya go, already 2 people that probably have SLR cameras, and soon PJ as well.
Bryan, what i was trying to say was that we should have photographers that will specifically take pictures for the "website" or for official forum posts that are actually quality pictures. I think that everyone should bring their cameras and take pics, but perhaps we should be a little strict with the pictures that we say are official

Same goes for video, everyone is entitled to make/create/film their own videos but if this is going to be a bit more organized(which is what it sounds like you want it to be) and for a JJ logo or "seal" to be slapped on the video it can't be a pile.
Pj, Remeber something when buying a DSLR though. Its not the body, its the glass. That's probably the best piece of information i could give you. My D50 may be an entry level DSLR but couple that with some nice lenses and it will be just as good as a d70,d70s,d80, etc and probably better.
hey guys im going to be working on the other J tomorrow, swapping over the suspension and some other minor stuff. if anyone wants to give a hand feel free to come over.

To be honest peej, i really did think about it.
But just as last time ... i couldnt find a LS Sport blue in jersey close, for a decent price.
yea
has anyoen else noticed the price of Js astronomically high?
I look through ads and stuff online and in magazines and it seems like J re-sale value has gone up a bit in the past year
weird... either that or these people are psychotic asking like $13,000 for a 2003 sunfire (saw it at a dealer) with like 40,000miles on it lol

And yet they will only offer me 4,000 on trade in for my car with GPS, Supercharger, and everything else. And it is a 2005 with warranty still!
dude they offered me 9 for mine with the factory suspension put back on, this was 20,000 miles ago tho.
