Just wondering if there would be interest in maybe setting up renting a track somwhere here on the East coast this year for j-bodies only. I was thinking about MIR(maryland international raceway) or a track in virginia or even maybe NC that we can all hang out for a fun weekend. It would be a 1/4 mile of course, not worth it. I know some people arent up for driving 12+ hours to go to the bash this year, and arent too thrilled about the 1/8th mile track. Just tossing an idea out there, any interest?

eh..... 12 hours to the bash? i have like a 20 hour trip lol
I'd be down for sure. but just an idea you might want to open it up to SELECT other poeopl/groups as well for finacial reasons. but no matter what i'd be down and i'm in VA beach so i'm good for wherever.
would depend on my financial situation at that particular time....since lately its either way up, or way down!! but i am intrested.

Its not gonna be strictly J-body of course....just the general theme. We all know we'd like to see some other GM cars there. If there is some decent interest i will start calling around this week and see what our options are.
I want to try to keep the location and date as fitting as possible to the people. I know we cant make everyone happy but im gonna try my damndest.

Just a suggestion, find someone who has connections to a track. Doing something this late and not knowing someone you wouldn't be able to get discounts etc.
As far as timing is concerned, I say Labor Day weekend which is the weekend after the GM Small Car Bash. That way, most of us have work off that Monday and won't have to take off any additional time.
As far as money is concerned, why not try for a smaller track such as Cecil or Capital Raceway in Maryland.
I would def be up to this, maybe me and tom (seasonsz24) will be down maryland would be best for us! But yeah boardorgohome IM me on Aim and we can chat

Hmmm...with enough notice in advance, i think a few of us Ohio folks might be in...
Sorry I think it is a bad idea. To rent a track is a lot of money. If you have the money for that then you trying to compete with the GM Small Car Bash which I do not think is a good idea. If I was going to choose one I would go to the GM small Car bash. I have went to 2 bash's and well worth the drive.

some of us never intend to go to a big bash.

it's not that much money to rent a track... i looked into renting out beaver springs (one of the pa 1/4 miles) at one point... it's like $35 for 3 hours and that allows 10 cars... $35 for each additional car...
depending on when and where i'd probably be down for it.

Ok well you got lucky. I planned the very first FLorida J meet we ever had. To rent Gainesville raceway (NHRA 1/4 track) It was 5k for a day. that was staff and all. So $35 for a day, maybe that was per car, which I have heard of, but not the whole day.
Sorry if I assumed you were competeing, because it does seem that way. Everyone seems to be putting down the location etc of the GM Small Car Bash. Until you go to a Bash you will not understand, it is great being with everyone in a huge group.
Nothing wrong with having other meets, I just od not think you should call it a Bash.
