I decided it's time that i start work on this car i bought from DrAkE in Kentucky earlier this year. I picked up a body kit from craigslist.org for next to nothing so i thought, why not! I don't claim to be a professional but i'm not afraid to get in there and try this stuff. I'm open to any help and suggestions. I'll post some pics to show how it's going. Here is the link to the thread where i bought the car a while back.
99 Red Cav Still For Sale. . . .
(filled in the rust hole with fiberglass, drake started on this but ran out of fiberglass)
(painted mirrors and door handles red, also painted windshield wipers black)
(here is the front bumper from craigslist, it was white gelcoat which i painted red using $6 duplicolor rattle can paint, $.99 walmart clearcoat, and wetsanding. notice the 95'-99' headlights, i'll be putting the 00'-02' headlights on it once i can find a set. i had a set but my parents threw them out when cleaning their garage, so if any of you have a set, i'll give $50 shipped for em!)
(the rear bumper had a bad sag in it so i got some $6 "great stuff" foam from home depot and filled in the majority of the sag with it.)
(i shaved the foam down as smooth as i could and now it's covered in fiberglass hair, soon to be finished with bondo and paint, i'll post a pic soon)
why does everyone always use fiberglass to fix rust holes?
Built&Boosted moar
04 Cavalier Turbo r.i.p my baby

why didn't you use the foam under the bumper to give it support? instead of glassing.
filled in the whole where rust used to be with fiberglass because i don't have access to a welder and the previous owner had already started using fiberglass but ran out during the process and it wasn't smooth with the car. if i get access to a welder in the future, i may redo it. as for the bumper, i guess i worded it wrong. it wasn't that the bumper was sagging because of not being supported enough, it was because the bumper was defective. it was warped, the best way i could describe it would be like styrofoam in a microwave. i had to cut some of it out it was so bad. it's mostly why i got such a steal on the kit.
wait a sec? you first used paper towel to keep excess paint of your car? one sheet at that? then didn't even get the paint to shine like stock? then used the greatstuff to do somethin with your bumper? wow. this is beyond embarrassing. also f/g over rust? i think you were better off leaving it how you got it. i'm betting your bumper is cracked within 2 months.

i like the look of your bronze wheels on a red car. i've got some old 18's and the paint is chipping pretty bad on them, i think i'll repaint them with some bronze wheel paint and see how it turns out. i'll post a pic sometime next week probably.

old topic i know..
car looks fine... and the rust was already grounded out by me and treated with naval jelly just in case.
its coming along great. makes me kinda sad i sold it.
good luck with it and keep me posted
nice looks damn good.
guess theres not been any issue with her yet.
and yeah same driving issues down here right now. i cant wait till tax return gets here so i can get some new tires, tint and battery.
but it looks real good
well, the belt snapped so i've gotta put a new one on. lately the car seems to be starving for gas, my friend and i narrowed it down to either the fuel filter or fuel pump. there is rust around where the fuel filter is pretty bad so i may end up having to replace the fuel line as well. i'm kinda waiting till some warmer weather to get that done. i put some of the interior back together and some of the pieces are missing but i'll be able to get those at the local junk yard. the exterior is almost done, i've just got to put some finishing bondo on the rear bumper, bolt up the side skirts and put on the mild spoiler. i hope to have it finished this summer. i'm still working on my other cavalier too so who knows which one will be done first.
i demand interior pics... i always wanted to know how my dream would look like.
i think i did a hell of a job reupholstering some of that stuff
He did... The passenger side...

Yes, noob, the search button is for you...
yea, i'm trying to decide if i like black or red better.
a bit late to decide that don't you think? lol...
Shouldn't you have put primer on the doorhandles and mirrors before you painted them though? Seems like you did this without preparing or doing any research man. Gotta take modding slow and do things right otherwise it may look decent now, but in a year it'll look like crap.
yes, i did forget to primer, i have a spare set of mirrors though so it's all good.
