Lower Michigan Members? - Mid East Region Forum

I'm looking to find other Lower Michigan members, especially those near Battle Creek/Kalamazoo, etc. I haven't had my Cavy for very long and I'm looking to see if there are local members who could help me mod my car once I get parts, as well as see who'd be interested in meets and such around town. I've seen a few J Bodies and other cars around here. I'm interested in putting together a local club or something, but I'm not sure if there already is one, or who would be interested. Cars wouldn't have to be modified to "join", and there could be the possibility of some autocross events and track days, if enough people were interested and could lend a hand in making such an event happen. Let me know if you're around town, or even in other Lower Michigan cities, because I frequent Jackson, Ann Arbor, Lansing, etc. as well, and members from there as well as other surrounding areas are certainly welcome, even if you don't own a J Body specifically. ok, are any of you interested in joining a Battle Creek area meet that is in the works? I haven't found any real gathering of local tuners that have weekly meets or anything like that. This is just starting up, and I am currently working on a website. This would be based in Battle Creek, and will consist of other makes and models besides J Body cars as well. Its funny, most of the local modified cars I've seen happen to be J Bodies though... I would like to know if anyone is interested in making this a go, because its no fun when there is nobody else to represent the scene in BC really. Meets could be at the Lakeview Mall, I'd need to get confirmation from them first. Or if anyone knows of a private lot that could be used, even better. For 2009 I'd like to have a group that would be interested in autocross, track days, as well as attending local shows together. Thanks for any comments and suggestions as well.

What your saying is interesting.. even though J-Bom by many is considered the "official" club of michigan, but never hurt, and i can name a few people that drive at least 2 hours to the j-bom meets which are monthly to make things easier on people futher away. Anyways i guess be cool to have another MI club that will last more then a couple of weeks hopefully

No harm done though. Unfortunately I have no Mods on my own car, thus the "No Minimum Modification" perk, lol. I finalized a decal but I have yet to receive them and get them on my car. Basically if you see a red '00 Z24 w/ BCPX on the side window that's me....

Well I'm in Dearborn Heights which is like a half hour from Ann Arbor, but not a j-body.

hi, just on a side note any make and model of car is welcome, it isn't just for J Bodies. Anyone closer to Ann Arbor might be interested in A2 Sport Compacts, since I'm located in Battle Creek (about 2 hrs West from Ann Arbor). I've been to their meet once, and I'd go again, but 2 hrs every Sat. night is quite a lot of gas used so atleast for me something more local is ideal. I'm thinking a meet at the Lakeview Mall behind Don Pablos (aka where Barnes & Noble is) in Battle Creek is a good place, since it's over in a corner where we won't be bothering anyone, and it's at a lower level than Beckley RD so we shouldn't get hassled by the cops. Then again if we aren't acting stupid (burnouts, loud revving, etc) then we should be fine. I will confirm whether or not we can use that area w/ the Mall, and I will post here so anyone who is interested in coming will know for sure when & where. I know its kind of late in the year to start a local meet but atleast there is still time left to do so.
I'll be in Lake city michigan more then anything besides some weekends when I race my buddies cutless and the strip but other then that I might be around lower michigan must. just look for a red 2dr cavalier with fart can and apc on front window

ok, lets see if we can swing for Friday night, around 8pm, at the Lakeview Mall (Battle Creek) in front of Barnes & Noble, off of Beckley Rd. I'll be there with my stock Z24, I wish it were modded, lol. If anyone else is coming for sure let me know here. I'll more than likely be at the BBQ, Kevin, but I'd still like to start a weekly (or at least every other week) Meet in the BC area. Remember, all cars are welcome, its not just for J Bodies.... I may bring some snacks so let me know who's all in for sure. I'm new at this so any pointers, also let me know (not sure if theres much more to it besides clean the car up & show up, lol but we'll see) Take care everyone....

sounds good, I've invited some friends as well, it would be cool if more people showed up but we'll see how it goes. There are two car shows in Battle Creek this weekend, one at the American Legion post on 20th Street, from (I think) 9am to 3pm, and then in downtown BC there is "Cruise the Gut" from 5pm to ? If my car was modded I'd take it down there, but I'll still be going to both anyway. Just letting anyone else who might be interested know...
