Well, as you all know, I hit a second deer on December 1st.
I was lucky enough to be able to get a car to use for replacement parts from Brian Anderson.
I tried something new today, and I was surprised on how well it worked. I will have to still replace the panel, due to it being severely stretched and warped, but todays expiriment made the replacement ten times easier.
ON TO THE PICS!!!
BEFORE...
AFTER...
The area that is still rippled bad is too bad to repair, it's just too stretched to make right. the new panel is in great shape, and will be on before winter is over.
On a side note, the hood, when I picked it up from Brian, it was in some sad shape. It looked almost like it had been wet sanded and left out in the sun to oxidize. Well, after a nice rubdown with some Meguires cleaner and cleaner wax, the hood id shiney and looks brand new. Ok, it needs a hand polish real bad (swirl marks suck) but that has to wait until the rest of the kit is on.
More to come so check back in...
Thanks Tony, I'll be off next weekend and then I have 2 weeks of vacation I get to use on repairing the ride. I'll get ahold of you in that time.
BTW I did said experiment with a highly experimental tool I'm going to use for dent repair from now on....A tractor tire inner tube!!!
that's right, I did all that and hardly lifted a finger. A few whacks with a rubber mallet to pop some small dimples and that was that.
Don't worry...She's getting a fresh coat of paint, a nice body kit and hood, and (hopefully, we'll see in the near future) a nice new motor this year.
The rear quarter comes off in the next month or so (tax time will tell all) and the body kit and paint go on right after that.
I'll be putting the extra parts from the parts car on Ebay, so if you need something that you would normally have to go to the yard to get, just see me and I'll work out a deal with ya. The motor internals are mine though, and maybe the alternator and starter, possibly a few more things from the motor as well.
hate to throw this off topic but just checkin on the ferret
how are they?
and to keep it on topic...good luck with everything, glad things are coming together for ya

I need the shifter surround from a 5 speed fire, got one laying around?
Hey Andy,
That parts car dont happen to have a wire harness and ECU in it by chance does it?
looks like the deer hit you...

Sho, yes it's a running car...email me and we'll discuss. It's even got remote door locks and stuffs, but it is an ATX.
Ruen, the deer hit my person as well as the car, I found it's nose in the front fender, between the fender and the door.
Zips Z24 - I've got the little guys staying at my best friends house now. My boys lost interest in them when they found out they were work (go figure). Anyway, he's doing real well with them and his son LOVES them. He's got a cat as well, and let me tell you, ferrets are pack hunters LOL. I get a report every day and see them all the time. Ducky is getting fat (he's just lazy, but he enjoys the cat so he's starting to play more) and Socks is still Socks. They are now spending less time in the cage and more time in a room just for them. He promised to give them back to me if he finds he cant take care of them at any time in the future, so don't worry, they are still in very good hands.
ON TOPIC, it took a whole day to get the quarter panel off the donor car. but it's in factory condition for the most part. We're still working on a way to make the install easier on my car, since the quarter, if replaced fully, requires some serious cutting to make happen.
I'll keep you all posted
I tried to reply to it Jason, but I got an instant return. It seems your email is not playing nicely.
Just make me an offer on the ECM and the Harness. If you don't want it DTP has shown interest in the ECM sans harness. Maybe we can all work something out to benefit everyone.
If he wants it, let him have it. I wont be getting really big into messing with anything here til around spring time when I can bring my car out to my buddy's place so we can work on it and his MR2 (if he ever gets the engine back). And if I left it in my apartment, it'll sit here and just get looked at every day and no progress will ever get done on it.
I was kinda looking for it to be of the last things on the car if you were parting it out. There's other ways of figuring out what those wires do. It's called the "trial and error and replace freshly blow fuses method". LOL
As for the email.... not sure on that. Maybe RR is blocking RR again. Of course, I havent gotten ANY email for DAYS.
Ok then, DTP make an offer on the ECM. and we'll get the other parts out this weekend if I got time.
