When I survive these GM layoffs I will be in the market for a CobaltSS and HHR
Well GM should have pulled out of the SUV game a long time ago... its not cool to have one, just to say "hey i own a suv" anymore...
but all they saw were short term $$$ and thats why in the long run they lost 9 billion $$$ this year...
maybe if they put more thought in to their product line... they could make some of it back ... but 2005 and newer GM Vehicles DO NOT impress me (cept the HHR... i like that way more than the Mopar PT Cruizer and Scion xB)

Thanks for your $0.02
Who said that GM was loosing money on SUV's and who said that SUV's sales were down as a whole market. LOL
i forgot where i saw that... one of the news channels one day last month (i think CNBC or MSNBC)... i was flippin through and saw a cavy up there... they were doin an analysis of GM As a whole...
in my "opinionated bastard" mind ... any vehicle that doesnt get at least 26 MPG (400 Miles per 14.4 gallon tank) my cavalier does, is wasting gass
as much as i cant stand european cars... im considering a VW Jetta TDI for a daily driver so i can get 700 miles to a tank...
The Cobalt SS Supercharged and the rest of the Cobalt line is a move in the right direction for Chevy. Not that I,m ready to give up my 04 SF GT Supercharged for one.The HHR Is very late to the party it is far from cutting edge and is more of a follow the sales leader (PT Cruiser Knock off) . As far as the SUV thing well I live in the land of ice and snow Oct. to Mar. we have snow. So I very much like having my Jimmy on the road during our winter months. Ya she sucks gas like a Hoover on dirt but I never get stuck it takes the abuse of poor roads and sub zero temps with nothing more than routine maintenance and my Sunfire will live a whole lot longer not having to run in minus 30 weather. Is it any wonder you see so many of them on the roads here and in the northern US states. Now if I could only afford that 06 Corvette!
Thats Him Officer The WICKED One.
i do agree to a degree chevy has lost a lot when it came to excitement and the SS family is a step in the right direction....now if only they would bring back the chevelle or camaro...HHR is a late comer but $ for $ much better value than the pt...just thought i would post what we have at our dealership available....
ps. i cant wait for the trailblazer SS....seen it(very nice) and wait till you see the commercial for it.
I look forward to seeing the SS Trailblazer I read that it is as fast as the old big block Chevelle from many years ago but way better on fuel.

to bad the cobalt is an saturn ion which is a Toyota Echo... which was designed from the Toyota Tercel...
Cmon GM be originial instead of using Toyotas bottom end...
but to the other half of the topic... ive never seen a vette i havent been impressed with... If chevrolet ever retires it... (at least any time soon as things are going...) they might as well hang it up...
it would be a sad day if they ever retire the vette...and i thought the cobalt along with the ion and solstice were built on an opel platform....i may be wrong just under that impression.....
BTW I got a new work car....a 2000 cavi with 100k+ miles on it and it still runs great...just thought i would share that.
2200 with an auto tranny....its a work car but the thing gets great gas mileage
I drove my mom's SUV an GMC Envoy to Effingham, Illinois on I-70 and had the cruise set at 70mph luckily I didn't have to slow down much. On that trip I easily got 28 mph rated epa at 22mpg. (the EPA needs to change their testing standards) In that Envoy we had 4 adults and a baby. In the back we had 3 suitcases, 1 Golf Bag, 1 Cooler full of drinks(30+ cans) and ice, 1 Pack and Play(crib), 1 Stroller, and other Baby stuff.
I want to know what MPG you would get in a Cavalier?
Then Imagine you trying to get to Grandmothers house in 2 foot of snow like last Christmas in a Cavalier with all of that Baby stuff. LOL

...
But when I said the industry as a whole I wasn't just talking about GM. When I started at GM in '98 there were 30 some SUV's to choose from. Now there is over 60 to choose from. That is what I am saying the industry as a whole you don't see the sale of SUV's down. There is just more than GM to choose from.
Plus I laugh at the people that Trades in their SUV and get a Magnum with a Hemi and say atleast it isn't a Gas Guzzeling SUV LMAO idiot. Hope his tranny last longer than 2 years hahahahaha.
My cavy gets 27.7 ...
how big is the tank on the envoy??? 18, or 20 gallons ???
at 18 to hit 28 you had to have gotten 504 miles from fill up to gas light
at 20 to hit 28 you had to have gotten 560 miles from fill up to gas light
my cavy with a 14.4 gallon tank gets 400 miles from fill up to gas light...
now i wouldnt know about 2 feet of snow... i'm a bit more south than that... we barally see 2 inches of snow at one time... however i was refering to people who own SUVs to just "have" an SUV... like my neighbors... I live out in Indian River Plantation in Va Beach... one street over is Missi Elliot's mother, and down the street is one Justin Timberlake's home... my neighbors buy escalades and navigaters... and never use the 4 wheel drive... never take em off road... and never haul or tow anything...
those are the people who own SUVs that i cannot stand...
the 2000 gets about 32 mpg on highway
the 2004 not so much better about 29 mpg on highway but that car i do tend to drive a littl faster.....
and i would definately attempt to drive through two feet of snow with it.....i see it as a personal challenge..LOL

No it isn't cobalt and ion are some 2nd rate europen platforms called delta gm is getting cheap and using one platform for each sized car the only thing gm shares with toyota right now is the pontiac vibe which is essiantally a matrix the same way a prism was just carolloa and a matrix is just a 5 door carolla
gm uses one platfrom every 5 years over in europe then once it's discontued there it gets sent to north america cause compact cars areant worth the time and effort here i guess north america has delta one right now europe has delta2 called alpha t which has IRS and turbo's instead of the supercharger look up opel/vauxhaul vectra and astra thats what gm's gonna use only made cheaper for North americian use
ya i know GM uses a lot of vaux hall designs...
the 2.2 engine was morphed from the 2.0 which is a cross between vaux halls and GM's brazilian counter part...
i could have sworn that the echo is a delta also...
um, no....not even sure where the hell you would get that from. you were making hella good sense till you spewed that bit of serious misinformation. The no form or variation of the Toyota Yaris/Echo is sold through any GM outlet.

I don't see why everyone still @!#$*'s about gas mileagewe wanted suvs to get 25 miles to the gallon now alot of them do, and thats still not good enough. If you want a suv buy a suv, If you want gas mileage buy a prius.

i would rather buy an AVEO.......
