Time:
9:00 AM this allows time to get gas, wash cars, possibly grab breakfast somewhere, etc.

Here's the problem. Which way do we go down?

- taking US-31 is a straight shot, but it turns into 55mph after South Bend......
-here's what MapQuest suggested as an option, which is the shortest drive I've found, but it takes you what seems to be extremely out of the way
-from Kalamazoo it suggested we take I 69 down like we did last year, off of I 94, this also would be out of the way, though shorter for you guys than the route above

Post ideas, opinions, or whatever ......

Does 31 have traffic signals ro is it all highway? Caravan's and traffic signals don't mix well.

I'm assuming it does in spots, as it is straight 55 mph, and seems to run through some towns.....and many cornfields.

I'm leaning towards the second all highway route, as it says it's only a 3.5 hour drive from Benton Harbor.

31 would be shorter, but Kokomo is a decent sized city and you run into sporatic lights near and in Westfield and gets worse as you get towards Carmel (real bad) and 465.

yeah 31 is one of those roads where youlle hit a small town with like 2 lights, then drive for a half hour before you hit another little town with a few lights. and then around 465 you hit several lights.

You recommending 31 or not Shane? Hard to tell .

I've never been on 31 north of Westfield, so I can't really help you there. Honestly, it shouldn't be that bad at all. People go much faster than 55 anyway...I was going to Westfield to pick something up for work and drove the speed limit on purpose to take time and was pissing people off lol

BUT, if you take 65 down, you could get off before Indy (near where I live) and take a State Road (267) straight south to Avon instead of going allt he way to Indy. getting on 465, and back tracking west like Mapquest says. 65 would be more convienent compared to 31 since it comes in on the west side as opposed to 31 (since you'd have to drive 1/4 around 465 to get to Avon) But really, that little difference around Indy prolly isn't worth it since you'll have to swing way out to even get to 65 lol

It just depends...if you're like me, I prefer to take the shortest way even if you have to drive a little slower lol

I'm coming from cadillac mi and going by south bend. is there a easy way to get to that spot?

31 sounds like a pain, especially for caravanning, so I'm thinking the original way MapQuest suggested, among all the other sites, which would be this route! A little more mileage, a lot less time/hassle.
