well i know some are curious so i figured id just post it here. Bought a replacement J yesterday. its a 04 with the lame automatic. couldnt find me one with a manual that didnt have over 110k on it. so needless to say this is the new DD. I think the 03 will become a fun car to work on. currently dont have money or way to work on it but im going to work on getting it running right with a replacement intake manifold and possibly radiator. then my boss' brother owns a huge storage company and offered to shove it into one of his enclosed storage for free till i decide to start working on it or have another place to put it.
for those who didn't see the 03 wrecked.
pulled the hood off and trashed that
the replacement at the dealer, window visors and sunroof deflector i already ripped off today
Swapping the wheels over to use up those winter tires a little more till it actually stays nice
Well i was borrowing a truck from my boss till i got the car and still had it so before i took it back to his place i figured i do a little brute work and pull the core support back out a bit so i could actually get in there to remove the radiator and intake manifold and what not
all done
straight as a arrow
putting the project car back in the garage
So there is a little update. Main reason i stuck with the J was because of cost, knowledge, and a hefty amount in parts to need to put on something.. would of felt bad just having some tein ss' chillin while the car sits. so at least i can use those and my new summer tires this year. Next couple weekends i plan on pulling off the damaged pieces and trying to get it ready for getting around to fixing it.
Wow the.damage on the old one looks super easy to fix. Its great to see all is going well.
Well since Ben can tune it as an 04, you could have him tune the shift tables in HPT. I have a trans cooler, AutoTrans Interceptor, and a pretty nice tune on the tranny and it works great and is really responsive. You could have Ben tune it or copy my tables, and it would make it a lot more fun to drive ( at least, for an automatic ).
I hope we can hang out soon and check it out, maybe if you get it tuned me and Ben could come up to Ft. Wayne and meet up and check it out.
Good updates, and I like how you are making the best out of a bad situation, this is probably the best thing you could have done. Glad you didn't have the CF hood on it! If you need anything at all or want some help text me or send me a message on the FB and ill try to do anything I can.

Would i really even need a autotrans interceptor if ben tunes the shift tables? I'm not to concerned about making this fast. I just needed a car mostly and can throw my suspension stuff on it and maybe the hood and other crap i dunno yet. Right now im just swapping small stuff over, like head unit, projector fogs possibly. I have a few sets of no cut projectors at work, so i may just throw them in the stock headlights. then get the windows tinted and probably put my sub and amp in. actually would like to buy a new amp first and finish making the amp mount i was working on for the other car. Then i got the strut bars and sway bars as well as tein ss with edfc to put on it. Then got the 99Z wheels with General UHP tires for some summer fun.
But first im going to be doing some maintenance.. planning on changing the tranny fluid/filter, coolant, and oil. simple stuff. may work on getting some new brakes too. I have the HPS on the other car so may grab those again with some slotted rotors. Save the camaro swap stuff for the 03 and well as the spare rear axle for the neon rears. car was also rust proofed at some point so there is the nasty wax @!#$ in the engine bay i need to scrub outta there
I plan on making a drive down there some time soon, ben has a car i need to cut up a bit and then get some other parts too.
I know there will probably be another meet too right? paul was still thinking about a BBQ again this year? and i'll probably try to attend winged warrior again but this time ill be taking photos and not judging show cars (sorry jason)

no you do not need an auto trans once the trans is tuned. ben has my old NA tune which should work great for you. Yes im planning on having a BBQ this year im thinking about pushing it back to may so we can make sure to at least have warm weather (even if it rains) lol let me know if i can help with anything buddy..
TRANS SWAP
assuming you been driving it, do you miss shifting already?
sounds good paul, i plan on making it.
vince you have no idea.. I've slammed the brake pedal a couple of times too, go to push in the "clutch" and my boot catches the edge of the brake pedal for a quick mash of the brake pedal
I thought about trans swap but too much work. Might as well use it as a DD and leave the manual in the 03 and just turn that into the fun car, just wont be a fun car till maybe next year. at least i got another car to keep working on some bumper mocking up on.

it could be done in a day honestly.. just a matter of pulling out autotragic, drilling out autotragic mount, swapping out pedals, drilling a hole in firewall for clutch master cylinder, changing flywheel, swapping axles, inserting new trans, welding in new mounts.. it would be a long day of work, but i could prolly get it done in a day
You know if you decide to do it, I will be there hanging out and watching work take place.
