FS;: 1996 Cavy - Eco 5sp / Hahn 16G STG2
Thursday, January 28, 2010 10:58 AM
I am selling my Cavalier. I am honestly to busy to put the time in to fix it and drive it comfortably over my current daily driver (SLK32 AMG). The car was overhauled back in 2003/2004. With the help of John, Robert, and Danny we swapped the motor and updated almost all the main components to a 2003. There are a few problems that I will list. The car is currently yellow, repainted from black around 2001-2002.

At this point, I want to sell the Cavalier and I'm going to pick up a C32 or C55. Please contact me at LYC.AUTO@GMAIL.COM if interested.

Price: $2,300

Car: 1996 Chevy Cavalier
Motor: 2.2L Ecotec / 5 speed
Mileage: 180,000 on chassis / 22kish on the Motor / Tranny / Suspension
Wheels: Stock Z24 with Falkan Azenis. The tires have less than 5,000 miles on them easy.

Extras Installed:

Hahn's Stage II (16G, bigger injectors)
Mantapart Flywheel
Strut Bar
Fuel Tank: Plastic (2003)

Extras not installed:

Stage III clutch (needs pressure plate)
Greddy Boost Controller
18" Konig Tantrums
Rear sway bar
Radio
Whatever else I have laying around

Exterior

Soundspeed Body Kit (not a clue what it's called anymore. One side skirt needs some small fiberglassing). The car has a aftermarket carbon fiber induction hood that could use a paint job. It's currently black. The truck has 4 small holes from a wing that used to be on the car. They do not impact or cause leakage into the car. The car is a beach car so there is a little rust under the car, but not on the physical paint

Interior

Gutted - one seat, no carpet, center console. I still have the seat belts for it. No seats. A/C and Heat do not work. The motor blows air, and may need to be recharged.
B&M Short shifter installed.

Problems:

- Needs new brakes and roters up front
- Possibly needs brakes / drums done. May simply need to bleed it, not sure
- Windshield wiper motor works intermittently, may be a connection, may need to be replaced
- Car needs tuning with turbo kit
- See 4th post down or so:

I'm thinking about picking up a C32 or C55 in addition to the SLK32 I have. Not sure yet. The car will be sitting outside the garage and it would be a shame to live beach side with a AMG sitting outside... (1 car garage). I'm looking at a Audi A3 Wagon, Cadillac CTS, Volkswagon Jetta Wagon, Jaguar S-Types, and a couple other vehicles.

F the C32, get a C55. My brother used to own an A3 wagon, that's a neat little car, I recommend that one. Current cadillac cts looks good inside and out, but the first gen is terrible when you hop back in your SLK32. No jetta wagon, those are bland and boring, go with the A3 in that case. S-type styling and overall "feel" is outdated. These are all jmo.

tee hee hee, thought it was appropriate given the car's rep with the old skool guys. I'll try to get it back to its former glory tho, cause a car like this deserves its rep kept up

I'm saying Josh will always be known as LYC, actually lots of us call him Lemon for short. Not saying he did not start the name because of the car, but he became the name.

I can make you the same offer I made Zack. If you'd like, I can put this up on the Hahn Website and/or Facebook page to help sell it.

Ah cool then. If you have any questions on it, let me know. It's a great setup! Sure, I am a bit biased, but we've sold quite a few and the results in the field have been superb. We're very proud of it, as it's our first Ecotec turbosystem, designed in 2002 in conjunction with GM and the release of the Ecotec in North America. It lit a fire that still burns bright to this day!
