i have a 2000 cavalier auto i did the ecotec swap it ran fine till yesterday i did a burn out in first gear and then shifted it to second then into drive and it wont shift it staye in second gear what do you guys think ?????????????????
I dont know too much about auto cars but dont they have a sensor when you press the brakes that lets it know that you can move the shifter?? Or does that not affect going from low gear to high gear to drive?
the 4 spd is electronic shift try diconnecting the battery to reset the computer first .disconnext it and let it sit for about 10 minutes before you reconnect it . hey buddy hows that thing run ? also give me a call .

did you try turning the car off and then moving the shifter while the car is still off? Could it be the shift linkage?

So it will shift from 1 gear to second, but won't shift out of second gear? If so then it is either the shift linkage is not correct, and it is not getting into drive, or inside the tranny.
