I'm going to Gainesville on the 25th to meet a friend I've known over 5 years. Unfortunately her work schedule is god awful. Anyone have any recommendations on stuff to do in the surrounding Gainesville area? On the 29th she is working 7am to 7pm so even a trip to St. Augistine would work.
Touristy stuff to do! Anything time consuming would work as well.
Also, should it turn out horribly, know of any cheap hotels near the ocean or gulf? Preferrably within walking distance of the beach. Worst case scenario I end up on the beach with some whiskey and a cigar or three.

I think im headed to gainesville next weekend as well. IM just planning on drinking though so i am no help for ideas....
disney is cool but if you are gonna be around the weekend in orlando i recommend going to Halloween Horror nights

The bar scene on Thursday nights in Gainesville is pretty good. The Florida-Georgia game is this Saturday in Jacksonville.
What do you like to do for fun? Give some ideas and I could name some places/things to do.

I'd like to find some scenic or historic areas for me to take pictures. One of the reasons why I'm going to head to St. Augustine.

Any recommendations in the general vicinity of Gainesville? Just how is the weather down there? I'm guessing it's going to be warm and humid considering that every day I'll be there is around a 40% chance of thunder storms

Saturday may end up a bar night since she is determined that we watch the game. I'm not much of a football fan (Michigan teams suck... Lions, U of M, etc).
Now her schedule changed so I may not have as much free time as I was expecting. Sunday during the day I have free but I'm going to a halloween party that night. Monday is still open.
