is any one else having problems with these ppl they have pulled me over 3 times i last month and a half i drive a stock 97 cavalier with a ram air hood t 3 wing and a tenzo r cat back exaust if any one else is having this problem lets figure out how to get them to leave us alone thanx
does the ministry of environment even have the authority to pull people over?

I have got to say I have never heard of that happening... I have seen white MOE malibu's with i think green cherries on top though... But I don't see how they can pull you over for that... What was it noise pollution? Scaring the chipmunks?

MOE has the right to pull you over and check under your hood. If they think your car is a gross polluter, they'll want to check things out. They'll look for missing catalytic convertes, crankcase breathers not hooked up, pcv valves not hooked up, etc. And if they find anything, it'll be an expensive ticket.
Don't want to get pulled over? Get rid of the fart can.

my dad got hit by them the other day in his camaro
he was putting it away but needed a part for his truck so he drove about 1 min up the road and ended up with a 300$ ticket and he has to add a cat and possibly some sort of evap emission system, what i dont get is that i thought that because it is a 1980 it was exempt

write down their name, badge number, vehicle plate number, the date, time, and whatever else. be polite about it, its your right to do so anyway.
if you think they've done something wrong then you have grounds for a complaint.

there's probably something that says you can't tamper with a vehicle if it originally had a catalytic converter, ie it still has to have one if it came with one from the factory. vehicles 25 years and older dont have to be e-tested.

Hey Notborgs I'm an emissions inspector just because it's an 80 means its exempt from e-testing not pollution control components if it says catalyst under the hood it needs a cat.
Jasonoshawaz24 wrote:vehicles 25 years and older dont have to be e-tested.
Not exactly. Drive Clean eliminated the rolling 20-year exemption, now all cars from 1988 and up will be tested every 2 years. So in essence your car could be 30 years old and need an e-test, come 2018...

they got the sniffer inthere trunk the can do a etest on the spot , but where abouts are you when this happens, just asking so i can stay the hell away from that area

dont remove any emissions components and you wont have to worry about it.

get the badge number and all that info every time you get yanked over. report it to the ministry that you keep getting pulled over and every time they let you go because there is nothing wrong. tell them the next time it happens you are going to report the officer for harassment.
and your dad deserves the ticket for driving a car without the cat. a straight pipe is a straight pipe and should only be used on the track. if he wants something to by pass the cat for the track only but still have the cat on there for street purposes he should get a dumper valve.

to tell you the truth i think that it is all stock, i dont believe that the early 80's camaros had them
but anyways that is the way he bought the car and assumed when it was certed it was fine

Have you ever been to Wasaga in the summer....There up there probably 5 weekends a summer pulling over anything modded or anything that looks like its in rough shape...They also have the right to pull you vehicle off the road on the spot....
nice thanx for all the reply and that sucks about your dad carey
the guys were cool about it they could have taken his plates
i just thank god i have a cat and everything still
i just hope they dont have a problem with the O2 simulator

if the car comes from the factory without a cat, then tell him to get paperwork on it. i have a friend with a SRT4 and they come from the factory without a cat. hes been pulled over by cops and questioned on it. he just shows them the part of the manual that states that it comes without a cat and all is fine.
the cop still leaves a little puzzeled, but its not like they can argue with the chrysler manual...

I find that impossible to believe. Are you sure you're not referring to the fact they don't come with mufflers, and have only resonators? It's not possible to attain clean enough emissions without a catalytic converter.
14.330 @ 96.37mph
the SRT-4's come with factory strait pipes. only the resonator in there.
there are actually a few vehicles come stock without cats and I've had a few guys come in complaining that they needed both the Cat and something else that was not on the truck at all, but when we went to look for replaicment parts, it said on the screen "no catalitic converter required" and there were no listings for the other compnent, and I work at a parts suply store.
the guy came back within a week, and he had even gone to the dealership and got the required papers saying that his vehicle came without the two things and the MOE guys refused to give his truck back.
SRT4's come with no mufflers, they have Cats though.
I'd honestly like to see examples of these vehicles without catalytics. As I said it's physically impossible to have tailpipe emissions clean enough to meet stringent standards without them. It's why automakers put the cat as close to the engine as possible nowadays, so it lights off faster and further reduces emissions.

1980 camaro came with a catalytic.
Wanna know how I know? The Catalytic in my 1980 Firebird Formula is still there.... rotting out slowly and stinking up the joint but still there. They are HUGE too... the size of 2 mufflers.... ridiculous...

ya i think i am just going to take it over to the muffler shop that does my work and get a magnaflow strapped on
much easier then the stock pos
MOE can get u for emissions pollution stuff
MTO can get u for any safety related, or road worthiness stuff
