Tis a sad sad day. The Bird has had a clunking noise for a few days, but I just had a chance to look at it today. The clunking was coming from the passenger side rear strut area. I opened the trunk to find a essentially free-floating strut. It seems that the wheel well was rusting through so the previous owner (not the guy we bought it from cause he knew nothing about it) tried to fix it.

I'm guessing he fiberglassed the wheel well area first and then cut out the old wheel well. As anyone with fiberglass experience can tell you, "Fiberglass doesn't bond to metal". So here we have a hack job of a repair and a free floating strut because not only did he not do the job completely (reinforce the strut mounting area) but he didn't do it right.

So after owning the car for about 2 weeks we are out $700 and need a new shell so we can save some money. That's where we are at right now...parts for sale! Keeping in mind I have to limp it to where ever the motor swap will occur.

If you know of a good shell let me know...and I will need some help on the swap when the time comes.
