This was my first time I took the GSX to the track. I have taken other cars to the track before but not an 390awhp car. The weather was cold and overcast here in Wisconsin. Took the car right on the track first pass 13.1@116, straight like I drove it off the street, no tire pressure adjusting, just some pretty worn kumho tires.
I've been dealing with internal wastegate problems and am only able to run 19psi or so.
But I wanted to go to the track to get some seat time. And let me tell you I got some experience...
My best run was a 12.3@117mph. Then after that run I was lining up to go (after letting the car cool down) and another 1g in front of me went and had a nice poof of smoke midtrack. Me thinking nothing of it, go ahead and stage. The staging lane guys think nothing of it as well, since the car continued down the track. So I line up and pull a 1.89 60' (remember first time at the track) which was my best 60'. I get into about 3rd gear and suddenly I start to break it loose and the tail end kicks out a little.
I ended up spinning out once, hitting/kissing the wall with the front end, then continued to spin 4 more times or so. I didn't study the picture that closely but I believe I spun out 4-5 times. I was just waiting for the back end to hit the wall too.
I am physically okay, the car on the other hand will need a new front bumper, bumper support, fog light, headlight housing, passenger fender, and running lights. And maybe a new drivers seat, because I pretty much crapped my pants. I was able to drive the car home and the frame seems to be okay.
The part that gets me is that it was the DSM the ran right before me that broke a coolant line. DSM's taking out DSM's just isn't right.
I've attached the 12.3 time slip, the 12.3 run and the other lane is a white evo.

he is damn lucky that didnt happen at the top of the track. one year i seen a drop top vette @110 mph go up over the wall and end up in the trees /neighboring feild.
ouch, at least your ok. it does suck that the staging guys didnt think anything of a big puff of smoke.. they should have at least went down to investigate... their laziness caused your accident, IMHO.

Too bad someone wasnt recording your run.... that would be interesting to watch.
At least it's only cosmetic damage... on easely replacable pieces.... you got lucky.
