Yea, pictures are really nice. Someone should make it a sticky then others can use it for reference. helped me fine out where the small heat shield went behind the turbo.
On the inside my car looks like a fighter jet.
Nice post! I'll be bookmarking this for later!

Because Saab, nothing was ever good enough for them, so they just re-engineered it.
Can you put one of these in a cav/sunfire?

Yes but there are a few things you need to address. The oil cooler doesn't fit with the l61 water neck and the lsj/lk9 water neck doesn't fit over the f23 transmissions linakges. The crank position sensor trigger wheel is wrong, so you need to find an external trigger wheel to bolt to the crank pulley and rig up a bracket to hold the sensor over it. You also need to purchase a spacer to mate the block to the f23 transmission. There's probably a few things I'm forgetting but if you look up lsj swap you'll find the info you need. The lsj is basically an lk9 that's supercharged instead of turbo.

Possibly...
Yellow covered most of the changes needed to make it work. Trigger wheel and sensor, addressing the water neck/oil cooler hook up, and the trans spacer (which some say isn't needed for some aftermarket clutch setups...I'm running a stock lsj clutch and did indeed need it).
Also need to swap on the j-body oil pan, make a block off plate for the exhaust cam sensor location, and either trim the l61 coil pack to fit the cover, or wire in lsj COPs (and if I rememeber, PJ point out DO NOT use the lk9 coils, they are a different voltage or something).
Overall its a pretty straightforward swap
Sweet thanks yellowcav and EVILution!
No problem. If you look up my build thread from last year, I have a lot of pics of all the specific changes I made to fit the motor to a j-body. PJ also has a lot of pics of his LSJ swap, which is the same swap.
Cool gonna try and find it now then. Lol guess I should of checked this post first before I messaged you about this swap Matt. Thanks again!
