ok so i had this crazy ass idea of bumping up compression for my gf's 2002 cavi 2.2 ohv . i know stock compression is 9:1 and i was thinking of using stock ld9 pistons and swapping and boring ( if needed) just gota know
1: will i need valve reliefs cut into the pistons?
2: whats the stock bore of the 02 ohv?
3: im i nuts or will this really work?
has anyone else thought of doing this gimme some feed back
One word: Wiesco...Or was it spelled Wiseco?
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
i like your thinking, i really do. however, odds are this will not work.
but.. gm does use a lot of similar dimensions so its not entirely impossible.
are the 2.2 pistons dished? is that why you want the LD9's?

2002 pistons are slightly dished (0.075").
To the OP, 2200 bore is 89mm. You would not need reliefs because the valves of the 2200 are so far into the head. What you DO need to worry about are:
1) piston pin diameter
2) crown height
