Can some1 explain how this insert is installed in a 99 2200 cavalier. Thanks
remove motor mount.. take top of mount off and slip, hammer, force, bang, jam the new insert in and re install.

x2
Also, I welded a strap across it because it seemed like it was eventually going to pop back out.

like they said. man its a pain in the ass for such a small mod just to make your teeth rattle. lol
If you think the upper
insert makes you rattle (it really doesn't...)... don't even consider a lower mount.
Mind you... judging by the Ecotec pic in your sig... you won't know what the upper INSERT feels like, because it's not an option for the Eco mount. Only the pushrod 2.2L's and the 2.4L/2.3L's.
EDIT: There's a wicked tutorial, with pictures even! On the Team Forward Motion website:

or you could see all my other posts or my pro wich states i also have a cayenne red metallic 98 2200 3 speed sedan along with my 05 ecotec sedan wich has both upper and lower, and its true the upper doesnt rattle as bad as the lower and def not as bad as both together, however still vibrates noticeably, the sig pic is of my 05 with the ttr upper mount (black powdercoat wich failed so i high heat repainted it and blue poly insert) and ttr poly lower mount. Also theres 7 j's in my local car group and my 05 eco is only 1 of two eco's in the group all others are 2200 98-02 models icluding my 98 cav. vibes are there yea yea, pain in the ass to install yea yea, the whole replacement for my eco was easier, than any time ive installed the upper insert and ive used grease, dish soap, rubber hammer, c-clamp you name it tis always still a pain in the arse.
My Write-Up.
The inserts I have done were absolutely no problem. The hardest part is taking the mount out of the car. WAY easier to get the insert in that way.
