As some know i jsut swapped in a 3800SC so serious thoughts only. i had the PCM sent out its been reflashed and programed to have AC, ABS, Auto Trans, Theft removed got it back today put it in the car and the car starts up then shuts down ITS NOT LIKE THEFT i had theft kick in before i sent it out so i know what its like. i accually runs a smidge longer then theft does
i want some ideas before i go snaking through the wires again
WHAT SENSORS CAN CAUSE THE ENGIEN TO SHUT DOWN
WHATS UART
even though theft has been remove from the PCM do i still have to do a relearn for other things (ignition system or lock cylinder???
these are some random things i have been thinking of what do u guys thing
It runs longer enough that the idle comes back down.

UART is computer communications (thus the U trouble codes)- I am curious first off why you ask about this, are there codes present or....
If all the programming is removed for theft etc. i would say you are on the right path- how does it shut down? like the key has been shutoff or stumbles till it dies?
I would start by checking fuel pressure- make sure its not dropping- of course it would stumble and die then (thinking prime and pump not staying on or something)
Check grounds to the ignition control module.
Other than that a little more info on how it is acting and what has been checked would be helpful

Now with northstar V8, IRS, 20's n 22's
it almost acts like theft
theft kicks out sooner i had a theft issue thus why i sent the PCM to raven.
we start it up she runs good were even able to give it some gas. it stalls out wether you give it gas or not and it doesn't stall out sooner if you give it gas so the fuel pressure seems to not be that issue i would think.
reason i mentioned UART is cause currently its not hooked up the reason for this is because on the GM SI stuff it said for the pin outs the UART is to be C# ## but that one was blank so i have no idea where the U hart is on my PCM conectors. i had that with the serial data too i had to use Mitchell to find it. i will be goin to get a print out of the UART wiring now from the mitchell software to see where its saying it is
COuld UART not being hooked up cause this???

Is the computer seeing any oil pressure? I know a lot of cars have a safety thing set up so that if the oil pressure gets too low, the PCM will shut down the fuel pump and make the engine die.
We had a truck at work like this. It would run, sometimes for 5 seconds, sometimes 30 seconds, sometimes for a few minutes. We couldn't figure it out, and had to call service in. They said it needed an oil change. In this case, the oil pressure was getting too high, and the computer would shut it down. After it got it's oil change, it ran fine. Strangely enough.
Just the problem is that when your engine isn't running, theres no oil pressure. So it'll let you start the car, but will die after a bit if the pressure doesn't come up.
Not to say i'm right, but it might be something to look at.
The 3800 does not run a UART data line, it actually has two data lines. I am thinking something is wrong with the harness somewhere.

what car are you talking about? i was under the impression that you were running the northstar...
"I did it because I wanted to see what it would look like. You should be greatful that I even told you that it would look good. If your to dumb to use photoshop and change the color of your own car then you don't need to see it changed. I'm not going to give my work away. I'll sell the pic to you though for $15."-Adam Kalin
^^JBO is about not being that guy
1997Ztwo4 is
my car is a 3800SC, after talking to james i have traced the issue back to the 5v referance
my TPS, EGR and MAP 5volt ref is screwed up after looking through my notes (good to keep around never know when u need them) i'm about 95% sure this is the issue aswell the other 5% might fall in to the %v ref that goes to the FTP sensor

turns out what i was thinking it could be ISN'T. looking things over we may have found it. my donor car had no coils or ignition modual so the wrecker gave me a set from an 2000 impala thing is it came off a 3800 NA which is the wrong ones so were swaping out ignition moduals and coils see if that solves the issue the other wrecker near the shop laughed when i went and asked if they were the same, they were like HAHAHAHA NO NOT EVEN CLOSE THE COILS ARE NOT MODUALS.
