i want to get my engine a rebuild kit so it is more reliable where do i find one of these?
Anywhere from anyone whom supplies rebuild kits. And speaking of reliability, search here for any info on doing the '82 double-roller timing chain conversion. I don't know how long you'll have whatever you're rebuilding this LN2 for but this will guarantee you won't be replacing it (timing chain) again at 100,000mi.

Both performance and basic rebuild kits can be found @ IPP (import performance parts), they are pretty good with custom performance engine kits (custom compression ratios, swapping gaskets, etc). Thats where I got mine, and I have not found a similar complete kit elsewhere.
If you just want a basic kit, it MIGHT be cheaper at a parts store like advance....or it might still be cheaper at IPP

its 900$ at IPP but it doesnt look like a rebuild, just like better pistons and bearings i doubt new freeze plugs mean longer life. when you got this kit did you notice any performance gain? by the way i dont plan to boost in the future with this car, im just trying to make it sell for more so i can get a 98 nissan sentra with a SR20DE in it
Well to be honest, the Ln2 seem to be expensive to rebuild, and if you are doing it just to boost resale value, I dont think it is a good investment....unless there is something wrong with the motor that is in it.
I noticed a performance gain, because I got a performance kit, built to my specs to go with the additional equipment I was adding. A regular rebuild, you will probably notice a slight improvement just because you are replacing your tired, worn parts with fresh ones. There is much more to that kit than what you said, including timing set, new lifters, complete gasket set, etc.

To get it done right, it requires a lot of machining, and other things, $1000 would be a steal to have it done. This is not a pull out and replace type thing. If you are trying to increase resale value, make sure everything is in proper working order, and it has all its current maintinence items performed. Leave it as stock as possible, clean it up real good. Thats about it. Replace worn components, especially suspension parts that are squeeking/clunking. Thats about the best advice I can give you.
Depending on the amount of nitrous, you would want to go forged pistons at least....check the NO2 forums for better details on that though.

To GET IT done, and done right....yes.
You are looking at removing the engine, tearing it completely down, machining the block, pressing in new cam bearings, complete re-assambly, and re-installing the engine into the car....
Like I said, not a pull out, put back in deal....
It cost me around $700 in machine work, with some re-assambly, and that was with a motor torn down and out by me, and the rest of the re-assembly and reinstall done by me.
wow well screw that ill just get a ld9 swap done for more of a gain lol it makes me wish i continued on at my college becuase they would have done tear down and assembly for free
they had an ld9 there but they wouldnt let me have it
they did alot of profesional work for free it was awsome, but just not something i want as a career more of a hobby
