ok i got a header installed a while back, and ever since it was done i had a service engine light...well i figured it was an 02 sensor...so i ahd my friend tht owns a shop hook it up on the computer...it said low 02 activity, so i bought a new 02 sensor and installed it...still have the light...and when its idleing it misses a lil bit and if im driving down the road it will like chug for a few seconds and then its good? any ideas?
i had a similar problem when i bought my 97 z24 it turned out to be a spendy problem
it started with the map sensor one of the wires was broken (which i didn't realise for like 6 months)
due to the map not functioning it either ran very lean or very rich which caused the engine to chug and idle very rough
so i bought a new map sensor it didn't help in about 4 months time it burnt up
$100 for the map sensor
$100 for the plastic housing that holds the coil
$130 for the coils
$10 for the spark boots
2 sets of spark plugs $15
in the process it broke the driver side motor mount $85
and the the driver side cv axle is going out (will be replaced in the next 6 months)
so $440 because of some thing simple as a broken wire (plus i was driving like 40 mi a day at 15 mpg)
there went my cai and new subs
things i would check
the plug on the opposite side of the new o2 sensor (a broken wire from the o2 sensor could cause a false negative)
when they out the new exhaust in they might have accidently cut the wire
does the new system have a cat if not that would set off the 02 sensor
