Well, a wet nitrous kit would give you the quick hp you'd want. n20 is one of the best bangs for the buck out there
problem is, it cost 50.00 to fill a bottle, maybe more or less depending on where youre from, fill 10 bottles, thats 500.00
fill 20, thats 1000.00
wet kit <$600.00 + 10 bottles to go thru= 1100.00 if u wanted a digital window switch and bottle heater and purge, that would add more $$ to it.
pretty simple install too.
i have no idea how much motor work would cost for these cars, but i'd say start with bolt ons and maybe cams and a tune? see if that gives you 50whp and see how much time and how much money you spend on that
theres always suspension and drag radials. this way you can put your power down to the ground and not waste any time spinning the tires or having terrible wheelhop. general rule of thumb states .1 second off of your 60' = .2 by the 1/4 mile, and this is pretty accurate.
theres always weight reduction too-
you wont gain Horsepower from this however-
1.) Its free
2.) every 100lbs is .1 second off of your 1/4 mile. this holds very true. im not sure if it'd be more for 4 cyl cars or not
it can be a PITA sometimes, but it all depends on what you want from your car.
hope this helps you!

WOW AMAZING great answers guys , he might be a newbie like me
and i just join this forum. all can say is wow !!!
good, cheap and horsepower should not belong in the same sentence.
if a part makes good horsepower then it was not cheap. if the manufater of a part says "gain up to 20 horsepower for just under $50" then its not making hardly any power.
if you want good horsepower you need to spend money. simple as that
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
first of all you should fill out your profile so we can see exactly what we're trying to give advice on. second the cheapest mod that will last a long time is an intake. but get one from a reputable brand. one that comes to mind is AEM (because i have it). the ebay ones can be pretty questionable in terms of fitment and quality. i always say if your gonna do it do it right the first time.
