Upgraded Cams?

If I upgrade my cams to either stage one or stage two (my car is not turbo or nitrous) what other mods come along with that or is it simply a part that can be swapped with a stock cam?? I read that stage two cams and up require a computer adjustment whats that all about any info much appreciated!

What kinda car do you have, what engine (2.2 ecotec,2.4LD9, 2.2 ohv, etc.)? Fill in your profile.

What make of cam are you looking at (Crane, Comp, LZM, etc...)? Have you talked to any of the manufacturers and gotten their reccomendation on which cam would be best for your application? You could actually be slower in the 1/4 mile if you choose an inappropriate cam for your application. Choosing the wrong cam can reduce the power your motor makes, by not being matched to the rest of your motor, or move it beyond the gearing of you transmission/differential.

LZM TRIFLOWS are supposed to be better than the STAGE II's? I would go with this cam or CRANE CAMS stage 1.. Anyone?

Triflow cams are good and are proven cams. . I would also recommend the Comp Stg II cams. I have em and the car is much faster. I am tunned with the cams so I am able to get the most of it. I would recommend HPtuners, a tunning device that enables us to change parameters on the stock ECU. You will need it to tune your VE and raise your redline to get in the rpms where the cams would be most effective.

hmm.. my grilfriends dad is a transmission specialist and I know for a fact he has all sorts of diagnostics equipment do you think he would have something of that sort because I know he would do it for me I don't wanna have to buy software for like 500 bucks...also to restate my original question if I do buy these stage two cams besides the computer work does there have to be any engine mods to accomodate them or do they just fit right in..??

Comp cams stage 1 you will not need any other upgrades.

Comp cams stage 2 you will need ECU mods, and also it is a good thing to get the Ferrea Racing valve train, as the lift of the cam, and the RPM of the engine, is almost at the limits of the stock valve train (meaning the valve springs)
