has anyone ever done a 3rd gen z24 to a 2nd gen z24 engine swap?
Why would you bother? If you're going to go to the effort of doing a v6 swap, there are much better engines to work with. Go with something more modern like a new 3500 or blown 3800 or something.
I have a 3.1 why waste the money for something like that when what i want is already in my possession. All i want to know is how hard it would be to do it and what is needed to make it work.
that 3.1 makes 10hp less and weighs more than your 2.4 does. The only benefit from doing that swap would be to gain 20 ft of torque which in my eyes would not be worth the time, money and headache. If your gonna swap a 6 in there u should sell the 3.1 and go with a 3.8L supercharged engine.

I am putting the 3.8 supercharged in a 2nd gen and my wife is not going racing. I understand what everyone is saying but i would still like to know the answer to my question.
yep, it's been done...by several, you need the tranny from a 2.2L to make it work though.
too bad you are going to downgrade. there is a reason why the 3100 2nd gen owners go to the 3400...the 3100 sucks.

The 2.2 trans out of which gen 2nd or 3rd. I understand that everyone thinks it is a waste but my 3.1 has less than 5000 miles on it. Speed is not what i am going for, something a little different.
the 3100 put out (turbocharged/intercooler/water.meth) 323whp/trq last fall when I was at the dyno. when he broke the engine down the piston was broken between the rings :shrug...
3400 is the way to go for sure.

what does a 3400 have to do with this? Once again, i am putting a 3800 supercharged in the second gen cav i have but i am not and i am putting the 3100 in a third gen. i just want to know who may have done it and what are some necessary things i am going to need to pull it off.
