I have a 95 Sunfire GT, that I am wanting to pull the 2.3 HO out of and rebuild due to mechanical reasons. I need to know how hard it would be to put a 3100 in place of that 2.3. I have seen that a few people have done this, and am just curious as to how to do it, and how hard it is to do it. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks alot in advance.

95 Didnt come with a HO 2.3, but if it did, its got more power than a 3100....
Like said above, the 95 didn't come with an Ho, it came with a 95 2.3. It's not an Lo nor an Ho, it's just a 2.3.
Changing a 2.3 for a 3100 is either not knowing what the hell you are doing or just plain stupid.
An Ho will leave a 3100 in the dust in ANY kind of race.

That really depends. A 3100 will get straight up OWNED by a 2.3HO. But if the 3100 is a 2000 or newer engine, it will have the same heads and intakes as the 3400. (the 95-99 engine would be referred to as the 'small port' 3100). Having those larger ports gives it a decent power increase, and the the race would not be so much in the 2.3's favor.

3400 HO? What's that? All the 3400's are the same. Only difference is the tuning on them. Which is why the minivans get a little more power.
My 2.3 came out a 1990 Olds Calais. I had a Power Steering leak that caught my engine bay on fire. I was asking this question concerning the 3100 because I am going to replace the head and gasket on my 2.3 and figured since it was going to be apart, I would do a little more work. That is the only reason I asked this question.

Well, in order to do that swap, you'll need the trans, flywheel, and clutch from a 2.2. Prefereably at least a stage II clutch. If you're going to go with a 3100, make sure it's an 00 or newer motor, or a 3400 of any year. The 3100 from 94-98 would be a complete waste of time.

Check that link (it's in the 3rd Gen forum) There's a few of us with this swap.
