iam rebuilding my 2.4l ld9 for high compression and i need some opinions on what compression to use and could i run 11.5: compression on a 2.4l borded out .020 over on pump gas iam guess 91 or 92 octane rite?
would you guys suggest me doing the 2.3l oil pump swap or doesnt it help much
and if i ported my head my self would it be just as good as like a manufactured one or should i just buy a ported head? iam saying doing it my self with a dermal i have plenty of time to do a good job. also would you think i need fuel upgrades for this type of build ? I am also getting stiffer valve springs and putting all my bolt ons back on and iam moving to 2 1/2 exhaust and probley going to run a 50 shot of nitrous
With HPTuners high compression should not be much of a problem on pump gas. In regards to port and polishing your head. If you have never done it or do not know what you are doing I woudl not recommend it. Check local shops you should be able to fid one to do it for you.
FU Tuning
I think 11.5 might be a tad much for an LD9 (iron block, more heat... more heat=more detonation prone) 11:1 should be doable with 91 tho.
the head is no problem my gramps was a mechanic and 2 of my uncles are too and they have all ported heads befor so that is really no problem but as for the 2.3l oil pump what do you think?
or are there any other cheaper or better way to go with this cuz i really only have about $2500 to build it so could i turbo and build it for that?. or is there a place to buy a already built ld9 engine??
Iam really just trying to figure out where iam going with this and how i want to build if for $2500 with some good power gains
