Resonated exhaust tips...

Say an exhaust set-up already has a quality straight-through muffler and a 25" glasspack resonator. How much would adding a resonated exhaust tip do to take the volume down? Maybe one or two db's? And does it change the pitch of the exhaust? Thanks in advance for your responses.

Tips don't change the sound of the exhaust I believe.

..yeah. the tips are like, a couple of inches long...not enough resonation to do really anything.

Yup. Won't do a thing for sound or performance. It's all about looks.

Thanks, everyone, for all the responses. Yeah, I know they don't help performance, and they certainly don't look better than non-resonated tips, but I wanted to see if they change the pitch(that would be bad), and do anything at all to lower the noise level. I realize that it's a small addition to the system, but it seems long enough to have a little effect:

This one from Summit is a Hedman Hedders Hot Tip and is 9" long overall, so I'm guessing the actual resonator length is about 6"-6.5" and maybe that was enough to have some small effect. Anyway, thanks again for the responses. Anyone else?

oooh, my, that looks like a bottleneck to me. The diameter of the actual tip looks about 2.5 inches, which is good, perfect, actually...but the inner resonator looks like 2 inches, if that. the red is a bit much for me too...plus, might hinder performance a bit. buttttt..if you like it, go for it.

id suggest a magnaflow tip? hottexhaust.com has nice stuff.

just my thoughts.

Did you mean "exhaust tips" or resonated exhaust tips? Most people have a tip on their exhaust, whether it's 2" wide or 6", it's usually on there in some form.

I was reffering to any after-stock chrome paper weight that so happes to fit on the back of your exaust system

So your exhaust system is basically stock - minus the silencer/resonator tube. Do you plan on getting any other mods to your exhaust?

silencer/resonater tube refer to the intake. I removed them, they are free mods.

for now I am hodling off on the exaust and other more expensive mods becouse I don't really know which way I am going to go with this car yet. I have learned the hard way a few times overwhat happens when you start dumping money into a car that you don't really know what you are going to do with yet.

sorry if I sounded nasty in the previouse post. I had just gotten off of work

No problemo. I just wanted to make it clear that I wasn't thinking about making my car look cooler, just quieter.
