Leakin oil

i have a 97 z24 and its leaking oil from the valve covers(were the cams are located) im not sure what it is. well my car started stalin and throwing smoke. i guess the oil leaked into the sparkpliugs ... is my engine ok ? and ive been to orellys and Autozone tring to get the gaskets but they never give me the right one what is it call or the part number how much? ? thanks

Replace the gasket.

what are the gaskets i need called ? there are so many ? and another thing i unscrewed the bolts to get the old gasket out but it seems imposible to take off the cover anyone done it before i guess i would be almost like trying to get to the cams to switch them out. how are the two cams separated from the engine ? sorry if i can explain my self more clearly but i cant put it anyother way . Thanks for that help in advance .

The timing has to be removed, and the cam gear taken off.

BTW, its under "secret cam swap" you have to remove the cam tower covers to get to the gasket.

Remove the camshaft position sensor connector.

The car strugles when its on now im not real sure if it is the oil that when into the cylinders because my cat gets really orange like its about to disolve .. it gets hot red i dont know what could cause this is it cause its pluged up or fire coming down my headers ? what can i be ?
