well, i have a broken baffle in my muffler and it is ANNOYING. rattling and making my engine sound mousy. within a year i plan on boosting my 97sunfireGT and i will have a full 3'' exhaust. but i want mufflers now to fix my rattling. if i buy a 3'' muffler and get a reducer ( cause a 1 7/8 to a 3' doesn't weld to easily) would it mess with anything cause the muffler will have such a drastically larger inner running than the rest of the system? some reason it seems like it would 'hurt' my performance doing that. Just a question that i had cause i am going to still be saving money for nearly a year(poor college student) til i get boosted and i dont' want to drive some torqueless bastard around.

Mufflers are very inexpensive...just buy a 2 1/4" muffler for the time being, when you're ready for an 3" exhaust system, sell your muffler and make some money back. Check out Magnaflow.

BTW, I know exactly what you're talking about...that happend to me and it f**kin' aweful...I wanted to shoot myself everytime I heard it.
